Whitfield profile 20 issue

Good evening folks,
I’m new too this forum and pellet stoves always burned wood. I acquired a Whitfield profile 20 off letgo the guy said it needed an Igniter. I light it manually it runs for 30 mins and the fault light starts flashing. The pellets feed the whole time so I’m unsure if it’s the photoeye or maybe the pressure switch? Thanks in advance.

Really sounds like a photoeye problem.You can jumper it,and start stove for a test.Also,it can be replaced with a snap switch,with less problems in the long run. Here is your manual,if you do not have it. Care And Operation - Whitfield Profile 20 FS Installation And Operation Manual [Page 20]

You can call Don,at East Coast Hearth,and he might be able to get you up and running sooner,he has an excellent reputation.Just food for thought,as it sucks to be cold.

 

Thank you for your time. I’ll try and give him a shout and see what he can do as Thursday turkey day and everything will be delayed a day I’m sure lol.

First, welcome to the forum! Lot's of very knowledgable and friendly folks here.

Second, in the future, if you have any real issues with your Whit, I suggest contacting Snowy Rivers .....she the resident "expert" on Whitfields. Hopefully she'll see this flag and respond to the thread.

Oh, and BTW, since it's a used stove, did you disassemble it as far as you could, and clean as many hidden passageways as you could? Pellet stoves HAVE to be kept clean, especially in the exhaust passages. Dirty stoves will have problems.....mainly why people sell them....they don't want to really work at the clean part.

 

I have not disassembled and cleaned it, I didn’t think of that thank you sir for the suggestion. I got some wire and connectors and jumped the photoeye and it has been running great. I will have the snap disk tomorrow and plan to install it as soon as I get it so I’m not sacrificing any safety features.

I got aquatinted today with my stove with the help of my 8 year olds lol. I took everything out and reassembled and replaced the igniter since it was easy too get too at that point lol. Now it all works as it should. I would still be pulling my hair out if I didn’t find this forum thanks a bunch guys

Did you do the eye Bypass surgery with the new Snap Disc? Pics would be really nice??

 

kjeremy2 , when you get a chance, do a search here, and also on uTube for cleaning pellet stove with a leaf blower.....also known as the "leaf blower trick". Great thing for the last part of the interior stove cleaning.

 

Sounds like you got it handled.

A word to the wise on pellet stoves...
CLEAN IS A GOOD THING.

Ash accumulation is one thing that can cause myriad issues....and do it quickly.

 

I will post pics as soon as the part comes in from east coast hearth. The one I got from granger was way too small.

I think the surge protector is junk since it keeps tripping with the vacuum also. Which sucks is it’s brand new lol

kjeremy2 - if you have a voltmeter or DVOM, check the voltage @ that wall outlet, make sure the stove is getting at least 110v when running.

 

If it ends up being the surge unit, maybe post what it is so other members don't buy one.
