Power is on, so I finally got a taste of the well water, tasted fine, clear and cold. Sent out for some water tests today.

Plumbing is all hooked up so we can start painting inside, now that we have a way to clean up and I've got to do a backsplash in the kitchen.

    Porch is happening.

Framing out walls against the foundation, spaced out a little from the wall so the spray foam can get in behind the stud so there is no thermal break. We are spray foaming the sill as well.

That isn't so easy. Need the right crew or it takes forever. My son and his wife did ours with some additional hired hands for somethings. Moved right along. Had some interruptions with changes here and there. Son is professional. Ceilings and walls with no visible seams even after two years. My budget blew up some with the kitchen and bath. I wanted really durable cabinets with good wood and finish. Found a place in NH that gave fair prices. They construct them there and deliver them to you. Your carpenter hangs them.

I'd like to know about this cabinet place. We are generally very happy with the quality and construction of the house so far except for the cabinets. They seem like quality construction but their appearance is not what we remembered from the sample. The stain on a couple is terrible, blotchy/spongy, we are having the factory replace those. We are going to live with them for now, but if I know my wife, they won't be around long, or we will end up painting them.

Give me a little time to hunt for the receipt. I kept most of them so it might be in my basket. We bought a almond white cabinets.

So the chimney is in and I've got some questions, maybe someone around here can help.

Class A from the ceiling of the basement inside a 2' x2' chase.

Here's the connector hanging down in the basement.
    20180930_075939.jpg

Looking up where it passes through to the first floor. Notice the gap between the plywood and the square piece that surrounds the pipe?...how do I seal this? Spray foam? Caulk?
    20180930_075956.jpg

Looking down from the first floor, I'd like to insulate here, what do I use and can I put the insulation right against the square piece?

Here is looking down from the attic. I need to seal this off also...cut a piece of plywood to fill the space?...can the plywood touch the metal? how do I seal it and insulate it?

1st and most important, the top of that ceiling box needs a storm collar as well as the radiation shield in the attic. This prevents anything falling in over the years or future owners from blowing insulation in for whatever reason and it ignites down inside the ceiling box. (This is code too)

X2 roxul batts (2x4) with some stringers to hold it in place.

The crack, we would use a high temp silicone, which is overkill, but that's what's on the van.

Yes, plywood can be added in the attic. The Radisson shield gives you the 2" clearance.
