Lowes is the same. They do this so you cant price match against the other. Same unit with a slightly different model number then it becomes a Lowes/HD/or BB "exclusive"

From what I understand, Samsung is right there with LG in regards to getting repairs.

Dont get me wrong, they both have great fridges, but they need to beef up their repair and part channels.

I read an article that supposedly got much of their info from appliance repair pros and they said if the company makes cell phones, dont get an appliance from them

Yeah, I just leave the door wide open. Cats have never jumped in, but I do check when I am loading it. Never had an issue with smell even with a humid basement (where the washer is located). Last 6 months I have been running clear ammonia with the detergent when I run my light clothes thru. The ammonia helps get the stains out that I always seem to get (why I tend to stay with darker shirts). Just saying that if anyone has problems with smells and doesn't like to use bleach or vinegar (white vinegar always smells like pizz to me), ammonia seems like a good option.

Put in a whole new kitchen in 2015. Floor to ceiling new. All the appliances were Whirlpool SS. Stove is gas. Frig has 4 doors. really like that feature. Aside for running out of ice, we really like the frig. Had the microwave fixed once and we replaced the dishwasher with a KitchenAid. Have the extended warranty on all of it. All I hear is horror stories. Could have written one or two myself. But love my Samsung front load washer and dryer. So far so good. Washer does have an odor unless I keep after it. Vinegar in one wash, baking soda in the next keeps the odor down, also important to clean out the clothes washer filter which fills up with pet hair. Easy access from the front. We are all in the same boat. We take our chances and hope for the best.

I had that in my 2004 LG front loader even with the door ajar, it was 1st generation for them and the old crystal dishwasher crystals with phosphates were still available and seemed to help. Also, similar to Snowy Rivers mentioned, it walked across my laundry room during spin cycles. Long story short after the motherboard began deciding to actually work, or NOT work in 2011, I ended up with a Samsung in 2013. Wooo, Samsung one has a "self clean" cycle!! Though the self clean cycle uses a lot of water and electricity it's still worth it.

I can't help myself, taking an opportunity to complain about my new "eco" dishwasher (2014). "Normal" cycle is 1:15 hours, sounds ok, right? I learned differently, NOT okay, "normal" is bottom spin spray only and my top rack (coffee cups in particular) were not coming clean and btt ickier each cycle despite the detergents and additives, even tried a few loads with the bottom rack empty with zero results. I learned to have both top and bottom spin sprayers to work (and dry mode) is 2:56 hours. So I save a gallon or two of water and pay for 3 hours of a major appliance running. Pfffft.

I've had a small portable Koldfront dishwasher since Christmas 2013 (only dishwasher I have ever had besides myself). I found that the additives that they put a dispenser in for, actually caused my glasses to get hazy. It didn't matter if I used the recommended brand or other brands. I switched to straight liquid detergent (store brand with bleach) and now they get sparkly clean without any haze.

Yes, I've been asked many times why a single person needs a dishwasher. I can do a single load every 3 days and use 3 gallons of water. I can use more than that just washing dishes as I go - and it gives me a place to store dirty dishes until a load worth doing is accumulated (I have 10 sq/ft of counter space - 3 sq/ft which are used by a dish rack). Since I don't have air conditioning, I don't want to stand over a steaming sink during summer. During winter, I can let the nastiest water from the first real rinse go down the drain, then put in the stopper and use the second wash water stay in the sink to humidify the air, let the heat stay in the house, and do any dishes that don't fit in the dishwasher or need to be done by hand.

Same here on Samsung washer and drier. Bought them about 8-10 years ago an no issues. Along with keeping the door open and using vinegar, my washer has the clean out filter as well as a Pure Cycle that I run once in a while.

BTW, my sales person at Lowes way back then was a former appliance repair pro. He was the one who told me about the vinegar. He no longer is at Lowes, which stinks because he always had really good suggestions from a former repair person perspective

Stove is running for a bit this morning to take the chill off (yesterday was shorts weather-warm and humid), dry it out and likely cap it off

Been working on the Astro Van getting the little crap fixed.

The rear hatch switch in the lower RH door (DUTCH DOORS) 1997 model was non functional and a trip to the MA GENERAL STORE (CHEVY DEALER) was a zilch zip nada.

No longer available.... soooooooooooo headed to ebay and other net based sources... no luck either.

Decided that I was gonna have to do an end run and McGiver the thing.

Headed off to the Parts house and found a MARINE ignition switch (Has a outer rubber seal over the key is about the only difference plus the case is a polymer instead of metal.

Sweeeeeeeeet...the one I found slipped into the original hole in the door perfectly and was not too long overall.

Even the recessed panel in the door that the license plate goes in (And has the hole for the key did not need to be modified)

A couple lengths of wire added to the original plug got things all hooked up.

THE ONLY caveat is having to add an extra key to the fob :picard:

    Sweeeeeeet...just like downtown...

With the older rigs just getting older, many parts are just not available any more, especially the little crap that was an OEM only.

This fix took maybe an hour from start to finish.

    $29 for the switch.

Great to be able to open the hatch without having to crawl in the rig.

We bought a LG last Oct. Lori decided after her ongoing hand and shoulder issues she wanted a bottom freezer model so getting things out of the fridge section would be easier. So far it's been fine. Read a lot of reviews that said the crispers and slide out drawer didn't keep fruits, veggies and deli items fresh for long. We find just the opposite- everything stays fresher longer. Haven't hooked up the ice maker but have access to the bathroom water lines through the wall right behind the fridge, may do that this summer.

Our Samsung French door bottom freezer, ice maker, water dispenser was good for 3 years 6 months. Now ice maker doesn't work and crisper area freezes my insulin and veggies. Called for service and we were 5 months out of warranty. They told us its $600 for repair, minimum. Yea. Best buy didn't really care to help. I can get a few weeks out of ice maker after " defrosting" ice maker. That allows the cubes to fall into the dispenser tray. Ill live with it. Forget about the Samsung washer we bought, that thing fell apart a few weeks after purchase and the service was a joke. Wifey went nuts with Sears and we walked out with a new Kenmore that was been ok for the last few years. She really had to fight with them to get a new machine (5 service calls) and bugged out a store manager at sears. Never Samsung again for us.

Too bad about your bad experience with Samsung. My front load washer and dryer haven't had any issues. Parents bought them as my housewarming present when I moved here Thanksgiving of 2013. But, everything will have a lemon once in a while and I can understand souring on the brand from your trials with various appliances.
