Tire loosing air but no puncture or wall damage?

I have a tire question? My tractor tires loose air after a week but do not have any punctures. It seems that instead of just inflating them, I need to make a better seal of the tire to the rim. When I was young I saw my friend mount tires he would clean the part of the tire that touches the rim with a paint brush and soapy water. Walmart has a bearing sealer solution that looks like it contains patroleum products because it is so flammable?
What should I do?

rim leaks usually show up with the soapy water test just like punctures.

 

Take the wheel off fill the tire with air then put it in a tub of water. find the bubbles where the air is getting out and fix it.

I’m assuming you are talking about lawn tractor tires. May be hard to find a tub for a rear tire on a farm tractor.

 

Take it to Tire Warehouse or VIP and let them deal with it. VIP re-seated my old snow blower tire for something like $5 last winter.

 

My tractor tires used to do the same thing until I put some of the green tire slime in them it's been 5 yrs. now and haven't had to add air since.

 

tire bead to rim, or valve stem
1) break tire down clean rim of rust, paint rim, re install tire.
2) take to local tire shop for 5-10 bucks

true, would not use it on car tires especially with the TPMS but on tractor tires that most people will never have to change it's a quick easy fix

 

One of my front tires was losing air slowly for a while...I think 3 times I took it out to use it and it fell right off the rim. The last time I wiped down the bead and rim and rotated the tire a bit from where it was, then reseated it using the time-tested starting fluid/lighter method...hasnt leaked since.

Just try cleaning the tire/rim a bit before reseating it next time. Seemed to work for me anyway.

 

I'd use Slime.

If there is no puncture then it's either leaking around the rim or valve stem. You didn't say how big a tire it is. but if you want to fix it yourself, let air out and clean the rim and tire where they meet. or an easier fix just take it where they can dismantle it and clean it. by the time you buy the cleaner and stuff to do it with, you'll have more in it than taking it somewhere.

 

Green slime works great. I use in in my atv I'll notice a tire is soft, and slime ooses out of the hole seals it usually before it's flat. I've got half a dozen sealed holes in more than one tire.
Alot of people use it as prevention in case of a puncture.

 

x 2. I had a tire that had mystery/old age leaks, and tire slime limped it along until I changed the tires out. Months.

Slime is good stuff. I won't use it on auto tires though, especially if you have tpms.

 

For all the guys that use Slime, please tell the tire shop it's in there.
