After a scorching hot summer and one of the worst wildfire season ever for BC, I am finally starting to venture out into the bush to get some firewood again. This is our second haul of the season and a little aerial perspective of where we get it and a bird's eye view of the way home. Enjoy
Very cool video, thanks! I likes the overhead splitting, as well as the dipole antenna on the front of the truck Sent from my SM-T280 using Tapatalk
Really cool! Beautiful area. ...and at the end of the day, you not only have a pile of fire wood....at home, you have the memories of a fun trip into the woods.
Thanks for sharing Lumber-Jack ! Hope you kept busy over the summer. Get on the plans to visit the East.
For sure that is a scenic route you take for gathering firewood. The trip out and back have to be very relaxing. No doubt the trip is worth it by getting the firewood. Thanks for posting that.
That spot is about 44 km (27 miles) from home, with a little less than half of that highway driving. Not super close, but not too far, the worst part is that we pass lots of standing dead trees along the way, but they are all just out of reach, either too far up a steep hill or just down the bank making them impossible to access. We were incredibly busy this summer, I'm glad things have slowed down a bit now, I was starting to think I might not have the time to get out there myself and would be forced to buy my firewood. Yeah I keep that off, maybe we'll be able to get out there next summer, would like to go now, but I still have some commitments here. Beetle kill Lodgepole pine.
Great video! I could even see what looked like an orange handle end on your maul, and that was from the tree tops.
Really cool to see that perspective. Didn't realize those drones would actually go that fast! And I wanted to make a stop and fish for awhile in that creek/river, assuming there is fish. Looks like you have a good helper. Sent from my SM-S320VL using Tapatalk
Great BC footage! Thanks for sharing Lumber-Jack. Pretty spot you have there. I enjoy the videos you post. Keep it up!
I live in Southern interior of BC near the little village of Keremeos, the river in the video we are driving beside is called Ashnola river, a tributary of the the Similkameen river that flows South through the Similkameen valley and into the USA via North Cascades Washington. Two good helpers actually, my son and wife are the ones in the video, I'm off to the side controlling the drone. The drone will fly pretty fast, but to be fair I sped up the portion of video following the truck in the editing. It was either just use short bits of the video at regular speed, which was actually pretty slow and long, or include all the video and speed it up and show the whole length. It was an experiment to see what it was like to fly the drone and follow the truck while my son drove. The interesting thing is that after watching the video with that birds eye view I think I may have spotted a new accessible area with a greater concentration of standing dead trees. I'm curious to get back out there again and check it out. The area in question is on the left of the road at the 3:59 minute mark on the video. It just remains to be seen if I'll be able to drive the truck off the road there.
