The only 2 stroke I want to run when it's over 90° is a jet ski or a boat. It seems like the auto tune saws ( m tronic too) really are set to err on the rich side until broken in. I get it as that reduces warranty claims, but if you're bringing it in because it's hard to start that's no good either.
I used to own a 365 special, always liked the saw although VERY touchy to statrt. Ran like a champ untill it blew up....twice I'm Stihl here!
I would take it in, make sure you know the starting procedure, backwards and forwards, and show the dealer the problem. If it isn't something procedural, then perhaps they know of a fix.
Its in the shop now , I didnt have to show them anything as they have been having trouble with these Autotune carbs replaced several of them on customer saws.
Well the initial check out is the Autotune Carb is bad. They have ordered me a new one. Hopefully that will fix it as its only been ran 3 or 4 times. I have spent more time trying to start it than running it. By the way I used Stihl Ultra in it with Shells top grade gasoline. I didnt know that if I had bought Husqvarna oil when the saw was purchased I could have extended the warranty.
Yep buy husky oil, double your warrenty, when you get home dump it in your tractor tank and run something better! Heyoooo!!! Just kidding run whatever, but I am a fan of syn oil.
The Stihl ultra that I have used is 100% synthetic. The Husqvarna oil that I have found and used is only a synthetic blend.
Shame on the dealer for not making you aware of that. I hate to just accept "the carb is bad" as a diagnosis but it's their nickel so let's see what happens.
They replaced the carb I got it back yesterday. I didnt get to speak with the mechanic but the saw starts easy now and repeatable. They said the day I dropped off the saw that the solenoid in those type carb goes bad.
True! They should tell you that before check out! Glad that it is easy to start now though. Hopefully that was the problem.
Well bad news finally got out with the Husqvarna 465 as the ground froze back up. When I first got is back from the shop I started it let it warm up and shut it off and restarted it a few times. Cut thru one log just one time and the saw died and couldnt get it started again. This is after they replaced the Autotune Carburetor. So its back in the shop. I will keep you updated.
Update on the saw: I got it back from the shop today and they said they re-flashed the computer memory. Which means they reloaded the software. They took it out and cut with it and it was cutting fine and restarting fine. I took it to the woods when I got back home. I got it started and ran it a little and it was acting up. Then I couldnt get it started again. When I was running WOT it was cutting out. Plus the issue of hard to get start afterwords. So I tried something I cracked open the fuel cap and heard a whoosh sound and then re-tightened. This time it started right up and when I went to WOT , no cutting out. I cut for some time like 5 to 6 cuts in a pretty large size log. I shut off the saw and opened the gas cap and no whoosh sound. So I thought I had it fix but later on it did the acting up again and the whoosh sound came back when I opened the gas cap.
Sounds like a cheap fix is in your future. Sometimes the new tech gets blamed for the old problems...
