Assuming you're talking about the PC45, leave the feed rate at 4 based on Harmans advice. If you're in stove temp mode, the temp settings mean nothing. That's for room temp. The inner scale with just the numbers is for stove temp mode. On my P61, 75 is almost the equivalent of a heat temp setting of 5. My stove is cranking some serious heat at that setting. Rarely go above that.

As for the distribution blower, I run mine on high most of the time. A lot of Harman owners don't. I read somewhere, and it might have been the old site, that more CFM = higher heat. I found that to be true. So lower pellet usage on high blower speed.

Aren't you really supposed to adjust that feed rate setting in regards to that one inch of ash? I am not a Harman owner so I am not 100% sure, but I feel like I have read that manual says you are supposed to adjust that as needed to maintain that 1".

No need to worry about the 1" ash line , here's what the manual says .

    yep...
don't get too attached to the 1" ash line
it's not a deal breaker concerning your Harman burning correctly..
feed rate #4 is the more important setting..
many of us don't fret about the ash line cause at 4 it will be close enough..
deffinitly need the probe for running room temp mode.
some older harman circuit boards call for feed rate #3....
it will say so inside the control door....mine sez feed rate 3 but I usually run it 3.5....

the only time i need to fool with the feed rate is if I'm starting a stone cold stove (like returning from a vacation). the stove won't be up to temp and will keep feeding more pellets than needed, overflowing the burn pot. i'll simply turn the feed down to near nothing (not test) and wait till the pot burns back to normal. then i turn it back to 3.5 or 4. good to go from there.

I'm always in room temp.. it keeps me from getting :heidi::heidi: when my wife is :shiver::shiver: or :dennis:

NO Harmans will run in room mode without the temp probe.....good ole 4 blink error.
The PC45 has been out of production for some time now, but I do believe they are still supported from a part standpoint..we only sold one, quite some time ago. Some had the finned ignition cartridge (early ones?), then they went to pressure ignition.

    Good luck!

    Thanks Jtakeman.

PC-45 was my first pellet stove and got me hooked on them. Will never sell it, been in two different homes, runs great and lots of spare parts. However, air pump and igniters are real expensive and I plan to swap to a P61 burnpot one if these days to make a hybrid.

All PC45 units had presurized igniters as far as i know.

Small hole exhaust plate just cuts down on amount of air blown out the exh. I use it to hold in more heat and i never need max BTU, more like 25K max with pellets.

But what I read is you should adjust it, especially if you need to run it full blast for a period of time. Now number 4 may be good enough for most cases. It still should be adjusted in an ideal world.

Never had to run mine full blast , everyone situation is different , but as it says in the manual line 4 , that 4 is a starting point conservative adjust from there .

I have used feed rate 3 and feed rate 4 and never expirienced any big differences...
Slight pellet consumption difference but that's about all.
Harman Technology seems to do the adjusting ..

If there was a consumption difference then there was also a temperature difference of the house.
