Briggs, Huskee Splitter problem

    It's an oddball length.

    I don't see why a longer shaft couldn't be shortened. It doesn't have to be perfect, since it goes into a lovejoy. Plenty of room to play with, from machinist's point of view.

    Yes, the cast iron Briggs are much better.

    If you go with a vertical shaft that is longer than original, then it may stick out further. That further out, on a splitter like that means it has less ground clearance, and may not line up with the pump. You can always cut the shaft down if it's too long.
