Sweet! I was hoping you would say that. That is the safest route and easiest to clean!

I could be wrong, but it doesn't look like an appliance adapter is being used to connect the exhaust to the stove.......unless that's a brand I've never seen before. Any idea what is physically holding the pipe to the stove exhaust?? Any signs of Hi Temp silicone?

Metal Fab pipe maybe? It's not Duravent, ICC.....no matter. Not liking the connection, as I don't see a mechanical means of connection, but the picture isn't THAT great either.
Does the pipe change over to stainless steel liner above the block off? Not a fan of galvie pipe in contact with masonry, especially in an area you cannot readily inspect. Galvanized pipe can rot given sufficient contact with moisture and chemicals in masonry (lime, tricalcium aluminate, etc).....if it's pipe all the way up, would also be concerned with the pipe joints themselves. Don't assume that since its there, it must be ok.....but I think you're smarter than that anyhow

Just came across this thread WS. Welcome to the pellet world! I added one in my main living area to help cut the chill when the temps really drop and also for just the ease of warming the house up quickly when the wood stoves been shut down a while. With my basement dweller smoke dragon as my main source of heat i burned between 1-2 tons this past winter. I'm definitely glad i came over to the pellet side!

Sorry for the delay in responding (finished moving, hectic). I just looked closer at the stove and there aren't any screws or silicone. I will go get some self tapping screws and high temp silicone next time I'm in town.

I will do a full inspection of the setup and report back. I agree, I won't count on the current setup w/o checking things out.

check out the ash buildup on the pipe and stove collar itself. Looks like it may have come through leaks.....if ash can get through, you had better believe CO (Carbon Monoxide) is getting is as well......

I had some time to get on the roof and look down the chimney. DexterDay I was incorrect that the flue was going completely up and out of the chimney. Upon inspection, the pipe comes up only about 3'. So soon, I will inspect and correct the outlet pipe.

Ok, I'm done for the night. I unscrewed the block off plate and wow....... filled! I'll clean up tomorrow and look at some options. Then proceed :hair: we've got close to a blockage, corrosiveness going on, and now miners lung.
