Don't know what your book says, but the common placement on stovepipe is 18" above stove top....

I took a look at the code, you have the text aligned centre. Edit and remove the align centre and see if it corrects.

Just a thought Kimberly . Is your cleanout door on the T sealed well? Any airleaks in the flue system hurt draft. And I know you know you need all you can get on that short stack. It might be beneficial to try & seal the pipe inside.

If you mean the stove pipe, the manual stated not to seal the joints on the stove pipe. Plus, I was told that I would need to be able to separate them for inspection of creosote buildup

I will check the plug on the tee. What about the one foot section under the tee; should I leave that in place? What about where the tee sits on the support plate, it just sits without any mechanical connection.

Yes the stove pipe normally isn't sealed. And it will be a pain to disassemble but shouldn't be to bad.

Good questions that I can't answer. lol! I've just read that the plug has been a problem for some. Haven't heard of any other issues with the class A.

Have you tried cracking window or door slightly open while it is burning to see if it makes a difference?

I didn't need to, it was so marginal, but I cleaned my glass only once this season. Nice wood!

Yes, that really does not make a difference.

I would guess you would need proper draft through the stove so there is air traveling through the chambers including the air wash chamber.

Kimberly, that brown pattern is normal on most stoves. Have a hot wide open fire for a little while and most of it should burn right off.
"Normal" (very subjective term) pipe thermo placement is about 18" up from the stove. Try using it on several spots on the stove top as well, to find the "hotspot".

I think I will remove the section of chimney under the pipe and see what effect. The purpose of that section, in my guess, is to collect debris that could block the chimney; is that correct?

I will still need to get a thermometer for the stove top. I had an old cooker thermometer for the oven. The manual states above the door on either the right or left side. So does that mean place it near the edge of the top of the stove above the door? I wish the manual was more specific on these things. For those with the pdf, it is page 18.

Kim, DexterDay and Eric VW were not asking you to stick the prongs into you skin!
If you read Dexter's post, he asked you to "lay" the prongs across your palm. Very common way to test the meter and many members here have done it. Kind of a verification thing going on, you know?

You know, you could move it around and see what readings you get. Sometimes, the best answer isn't in the manual.
Yooper's correct (as are Dex and Eric).....just lay the prongs across the skin. No one's suggesting you skewer yourself.:pain:
You can use the same thermo on either surface as a guideline.
