Makes it worth the effort when you see a difference doesn't it?

I loaded the stove to the gills at 11 pm last night with birch and woke to a house that was 72 and the outside was 12. Raked the coals forward at 1030 am and loaded er up again and left for work. Its 30 out now. I may go and get a load of wood this afternoon before the snow closes me in or just walk the dog and stare at dead trees.

37 here, time to turn the pilot off on the gas logs... Let my wife start the first official fire of the season. Couple small locust splits, cherry, oak on top of kindling and a few pieces poplar.... Rolling gooder. Not an EPA stove, so no secondaries or glass- but we got proper heat now!

Gotta love good wood heat. It wraps you up like being in a warm blanket. Nothing better.:coldfire:

Got any other pictures of your stove? Tried googling it (not sure which would be yours) as I've never heard/seen one before. Looks like it can hold a good bit of wood as the firebox looks nice and deep.

    Like a wonderwood.
Biggest limiting factor is the burn box is made with 16 ga aluminized steel- very quick to get the top glowing if not careful....
These are the main air adjustments:
Bi-metallic thermostatically operated bottom air, which you can set, but if the stove gets too hot, it will close itself,
Cools down, it opens back up-
    image.jpg
Regular 3 hole air on the door, above the fire-
    image.jpg
And in the upper right, the flue exit with built in adjustable damper-
    image.jpg
Decent wood MC wise, smoke outa the chimley
Guess it's to be expected from an old stove tho...
Now, most everyone here hasn't had an older stove for a WHILE, but try to remember back when....
Any advice on keeping the top from glowing, but cutting down on smoke?
    Thanks for looking/advising:yes:

I'd try smaller loads of bigger splits for the glowing ... which might cause more smoke ... hmmm. Maybe some of the older gentlemen on the site can chime in :).

Eric VW Is your primary air turned down? You can try turning down the air much sooner. You may have an airleak too. Test a cold stove door and ashpan door (if you have an ashpan door) using a dollar bill. Insert dollar bill bis cold.tween stove and door, close door and latch, if easily pulled through, definitely replace the gasket. Test doors completely. Good luck, you dont want a glowing orange stove. Check for any warping or cracks when stove is cold.

As soon as I get up. Dogs haven't been letting me sleep past about 7 lately, so...about then.:)

Couple days ago, they were calling for 4-8" tonight though tomorrow, then today it went to 3-6". It tried to snow most of the day, but couldn't quite do it.
Looks like it's staying south of West branch and heading SE.
We may get some trailing bits. Are you getting it yet?
