Added a cord + to the "40 + feet of CSS'd Birch" today

Yeah, if the board wasn't there the round wouldn't stand on it's own, it would tip forward , you would have to hold it up there until the wedge makes contact.
Board is real close to thickness of the splitter foot

 

Wow, that's a job a and a 1/2!

How in the world do you split so perfectly square? Looks like all your splits are square?

nice idea,i saw a picture years ago where someone way using 2 or 3 pieces of pipe that were equal to the splitter base in height or just a bit taller and they were used as a work platform and rollers ,i tried it and it works great ,been using 3'' plastic conduit and its holding up well,this is very helpful with very large rounds.

 

I have been splitting and putting the pieces into my trailer for years. Saves on the back. I use my Work Mate table while splitting to help keep wood I am working on off the ground.

Was on uneven ground today, & on hooked already & hooked up the big trailer
, hard to move it around on frozen uneven ground by hand
