Earth Stove

I do put about 4-5 cords thru it every year. I own my own woods so I burn whatever Mother Nature gives me. I find I have to cut rather short pieces, about 12 inches or so but that makes it easier to load.

 

Here is my Earth Stove 100. I just installed it after building the hearth and protected wall behind it.

That's a real clean Earth Stove. Am I looking at window panes in the door? Never seen one like that.
Also, do I see an air gap around that wall?
SisIL had one of those, but a 1000 series. Hers was a rustbucket, unlike yours.

 

This stove was in my sisters house that caught fire due to electrical fault Last feb. I had to restore the finish but the stove itself is very sound. Had not had much use. I used steel wool to remove rust, wiped it down with lacquer thinner, allowed it to dry, then painted it with 3 coats of 1200 degree stove paint.

Fired it up to burn off the stinkies the other night. I can understand the overfiring deal. This thing burns hot!

 

Yes it has the metal door, windowed door, and a metal screen. The wall has a 1" air gap behind the tile, then stove installed at minimum protected wall clearances listed on back of stove.

 

I love it when someone does things the right way.

I used 1 1/4" steel wall studs turned on side covered in 1/2" durock and natural slate tile.

 

Thanks papadave, I don't want to burn my house down, I spent a while planning and buying the necessary chimney shields and pipe to do it right.

Thanks Brad. Our last house had a small El Fuego insert fireplace. I burned that thing like it was going out of style trying to heat the 1700 sq. ft. house we had. Im quickly learning that this Earth Stove is a whole different animal. Without even trying it produces 3 times or better the heat the insert did.

It seals good enough that it kills the fire if I shut off the air intake.

 

Mine is a series 1000.I have never seen 1 with the hardware that keeps the door snug on the inside like mine.Thru the back it has the 1inch iron pipe N 2 half inch copper pipes I thought may have been for a coil to heat water. Would love any N all info I can get.There is a round meatal disk that I don't believe is original that attaches to the top edge.Great for heating things N keeping coffee warm as it raises N lowers or pivots off to the side to adjust heat.
I call her by her Indian name KEEPSMEWARM.

Hi everyone, I just joined the page after reading all the post. I have a Earth Stove 100 and was trying to get info on putting a baffle plate and air tubes in it for secondary burn? Any tips or reasons that this wouldn't work in this stove? I'm looking to make it more efficient and "LONGER" burn times as well as cut the ease of over firing. The spring dampener in back does function correctly, the door seals tight and I added a dampener to the chimney but can only 3-4 peace of wood without the chimney temp going every which way. As a result only getting about 4 hour burn time, and that is not cutting it. This is the second Earth Stove that I've had and this one doesn't perform at all like my other one did. Thanks for the help and thanks for letting me join the group.
