I If you relocate to VA or MD you will get closer to $240. Even with diesel lower than its been in years freight still running $60+ ton to NY, CT or MA from VA. Tolls and few back hauls are what I'm being told. Same price when diesel was $1 more per gallon.
Hey Steve I have a concern about my shipment . My 2 test bags were a very light blonde color and 1/4 - 3/4 in length. But when my 2 tons were delivered they were darker in color and 1 - 1 1/2 inch in length. I'll add some pics. Test bag .
Also these were purchased from Acushnet Alternative Heating 127 South main Street Acushnet, Ma 02743/ phone 774 202 6666 my name is Russell Ferreira from Assonet, Ma. The price I thought for Premium was reasonable $ 300 a ton but they look like the blend . Thanks for your help.
PFI spec says not more than 1% can be longer than 1.5 inches. That's roughly 0.40 pounds. So technically they can have a few long ones in the mix. But if you tally more than the 0.40 pounds they are out of spec. My quad didn't care if they were long nor does my Omega. But the Breckwell I had would bridge in the hopper and cause havoc! It also would make a heck of a ratchet when trying to feed them. Not to mention it killed the heat output even if it did feed them. I couldn't afford to run long ones in cold weather with that stove!! Not all stoves will be effected, But it does suck for the ones they do effect!!
I did run the Quad last night with no problems and there was little ash but we're talking maybe 1/3 of a bag . I also broke up some of the long pellets just to be safe.
Roughly 1/3 over the 1.5" inches?? Wow, That would be an issue for some! Wonder where steve gordon is at?? Curious to hear his thoughts!!
Clarification: embarrassed about the comment #54.... I don't care about the pellet problem... not one of ours... Dan
Gosh Dan, I almost look like that old fat guy!! Uggghhh!! Less the tie! Russell How are they burning, I'm just curious if the long pellets have been an issue for ya??
