Right where I want to be.
25.75 from the front door to the back of the firebox, and another 1.75" for the heat shield.
The "good" blower sticks out about 3-3.25".
I didn't include the ash lip or door handle.
Mine is 23"W and 29.25"H w/o the collar.

I recommend a Lopi Liberty , but it may not fit your budget http://lopistoves.com/TravisDocs/98800729.pdf

Yes, I think so LOL. Maybe Zeus will take pity on me and zap one on my doorstoop.

When reading clearances, what exactly do they mean by single wall connector and double wall connector. What is this connector they are mentioning?

The connector pipe is the black "flue" pipe used inside the house. It comes in single wall or double wall and connects the stove to the chimney.

Kimberly , have you looked at the dimensions of the mid sized US Stove models? Wonder if that might fit the budget. Sometimes I am more about function to get me by.

kimberley, I guess you have your budget in mind and then found out the chimney and hearth ate most of it. this is what happened to me. my best advice would be get at least a 2.75 cubic foot firebox. investigate all brands and clearances put tape on floor for size of contenders hearth and keep building your wood supply. I did it on Home Depot credit card paid off in 18 months saved next 18 months and started investigating. I built hearth and chimney to accommodate bigger stove in future.

Do you realize that all stoves require the hearth to extend 16 inches in front of the stove, so how is 5 or 6 inches even 10 inches more depth, going to matter ?
Have you looked at United States Stove Wood Stove with Blower, Large, EPA Certified It' a 2.5 Cubic Foot Firebox

A double wall stove pipe , like said is the black "flue" pipe used inside the house It's a pipe inside a pipe with an air space in-between, it keeps the inside of the pipe hotter and the out side cooler , so It can be closer to combustible materials . A single wall is just that , single wall

    Double wall looks like this

The clearances of pellet stoves are quite tight if that interests you. You can put them close to a wall or in a corner, and the venting might be easier too.

Yes, maybe I should just forget this whole thing. I am just tired of freezing every winter in a house heated to 55F and the electric bill still triple what it is in the summer. I see trees falling over and rotting away that could have been used to keep me warm.

Naw, much better to walk around a stove in the room than sit around bundled up and cold!

There are some drawbacks to wood heat, its not for everyone. With that said, I wouldn't be without it. If it came down to it, I would toss out the couch to make room for a stove. My house is about the same size as yours, 1536 sqft heated. We built a 4'x8' hearth but it was new construction and part of the design.
Also, went I was a kid, the wood stove was moved out of the house every spring. It was a 30 min job for me and my brother. May not be practical for you but something else to consider.

kimberly, what's your electric bill in winter? what are dimensions of room putting stove in? our living room is 20 x 20 used to be attached garage furnace would not keep room above 57, last room in zone lots windows door etc. we never used room in winter. put stove in it it's 80 and we are in that room all winter. are you sure your stove would not pay for itself over time? ours did with money in 3 years and wife happiness in 3 weeks! the latter being far more important:D

Don't get discouraged, where there is a will there is a way.
You have part of it nailed already, the wood is just lying out there on your property waiting to keep you warm.
It will take some planning to get yourself hooked up and ready to go, right now you're just in the planning and learning stage.
You don't have to try and get a big stove in heat 100% with wood, you can just supplement your heat with a wood stove, cut your bills some and be warm:campfire:

Slight adjustment on what HDR mentioned re: 16" clearance in front of the stove........I think some of the side load stoves allow 8" on the front, but then you'd still need 16" clearance on the door side. Most stove manuals I've read require 8" on all sides, with 16" needed on the loading door side. If the stove can be loaded from the front AND side, then that would need 16" on those sides.
Good point that wildwest made too, in that you could go a little less expensive with one of the US Stoves, or maybe a Country Hearth, then decide if you really want to stick with it.
In the meantime, it should cut your electric consumption quite a bit while also keeping the house at least a little warmer.
Any chance you can bump the budget a little bit? This is a long term thing, and a little extra money up front brings large dividends for a long time.
As Dennis likes to say (and a lot of us have adopted it too), firewood stacked up drying is better than money in the bank.

Oh, regarding the stove pipe.......single wall needs 18" from combustibles, unless you use either a pipe shield, double wall, or a non-combustible wall shield spaced 1" from the combustible wall material. I think those things will reduce the CTC by 2/3 (down to 6")....someone correct me if that's wrong.
Kimberly, don't give up, as I'm sure we can help you figure this out.

Do you have a Tractor Supply near you ? They have clearance on stoves and don't list them on the web, floor models n such
