So do we make a list of our must have saws? Condition of saws? Or are we talking each other out of the saws we are looking at. The hardest for me is asking price over what I'm willing to pay.(what truly is that saw worth and how big of a lost will I take to make the saw right.). I could go on and on. So seriously send a pm.
I was thinking more along these lines that way I might want to buy the saw youre wanting before you do to help you. No but seriously just to help one another.
I think the hardest part is seeing a really good deal and not that we need it we want it.Good deals don't last long .
If it's getting a clean? Then it's a good saw.. If it's getting a good cylinder or rebuild? Then your answer would have been different Waiting for your cleaned up pics!
Hey me too.... .... That appears to be a old 044? 10mm? Whats the plan? I got one pretty much like that except mine has a bad piston...
Yep, 10mm. When I went to look at it my biggest concern was the cyl. May have been replaced. It has newer OEM piston, crank bearings and seals, clutch. But the cyl. Is original. So mechanically it is in good order, with good compression. Looks like it needs a carb kit, muffler screen, and the little black piece that you slot a screw driver into to adjust the carb. And a good clean. It is well used but runs strong. Amazing how different it sounds from the 12mm I have. Got a nice nasty sound.
Here it is back together, but I must say it is in pieces again. With the 12mm. When I looked at the saw everything seemed fine, the only thing was the idle was high but otherwise the saw ran fine looked good mechanically. After cleaning I fired it up and started tuning it and it wouldn't tune. Pulled the carb: it has had a recent rebuild, pulled the H and L screws and the L screw had a bunch of gunk on it cleaned the rest of the carb and put the saw back together. Ran better but still wouldn't tune. Started suspecting an air leak and sure enough the carb boot has a crack in it.
