DrewCat, that's a really nice shed! My main shed only holds 1 cord, and I have a second small shed for about another 1/2 cord. I refilled both a few weeks ago... Wish I had a 3 cord shed. I could build one easy enough, but I just have no space for it....
That is a nice shed! I may have to make one of those out of the first boards I mill. That is if my deal for a 394xp works out tomorrow.
Thanks Machria and cryzbowhntr on the shed compliments. I built that this past fall with wood off my mill, love being able to use my own lumber. I cringe at the pictures I see of some of the logs on this site that are turned into firewood (I don' hold it against anybody, just envious)!
Don't see Buddy anywhere in this thread chief? Big snow here so we aint gonna get out cutting, just splitting out back. Good luck with the rest of the season eh!
It's good to know you've at least got good dry wood to haul in - better position to be in than a lot of folks. I think I'm right at 1/2 through the 5 cord I stacked in the barn. Job for tomorrow is to bring February's wood to the garage - takes about 2-3 hours to haul a months worth of wood from the barn to the garage - with help from my son it goes pretty fast - wheelbarrows get it done. Cheers!
Yes, the end joists are treated 2x6's from the lumber yard but the joists underneath (16" centers) are dimensional elm 2x6's. Seems to have held the weight just fine, its only an 8 foot span.
That might be good - I have to move the wood about 30 yards from barn to garage - I plow the area, but it is small incline to the garage - I'm not sure how well it would work to pull a wagon vs. push a barrow - I think I'd lose traction quite a bit. Might be worth a shot and would be usedful for a lot of other things if it didn't work out. Cheers!
It's really not all that bad - two wheelbarrows - son loads in the barn and I haul to the garage - takes about 2-3 hours to load a months worth of wood - by the time I'm back from the garage, he has the next barrow loaded and we go from there. Son is eleven, he gets distracted pretty easily in the barn and return to a half filled barrow sometimes! We have fun together! Cheers!
No, I forgot to get him in there. He is always with me though, every trip to the wood shed and to the woods. He loves to be outside, especially in the woods. Here is an old one from last month for my Buddy fans. He supervising loading
