I'm sure a lot of us would be interested in seeing pics of what the inside of the comb. blower looks like right now. In general, dark ash usually means too rich a mixture (not enough air) and light/med. gray means proper combustion. Inside the exhaust pipe should be the same.....light gray ash.

Sorry I should've snapped a pic when I had it out. The inside of the blower housing was clean with a tiny bit of light gray ash in the bottom. When I pulled the cleanout on the tee it had a fluffy light brownish/gray ash. When I look down the chimney it's also nice and clean with a little brown gray dusting. I'll try and snap a pic after work.

My manual specifically states in bold letters to 'not burn on high for extended periods of time'. Any chance yours does the same?

So it could have been the residual build up in the comb blower housing. Why didn't the snap disc open and shut it down?

I would definitely change the snap disk, they are cheap enough. You could also pull the current one and test it and see what it does.

Not that i could find. It does say to run the stove on high for 15-20 mins a day if normally run on a lower setting.
That's really what i'm leaning towards. My mistake for not cleaning it out 100% before install. If the high limit switch senses firebox temp it may still be working since the fire happened in the exhaust chamber. In my manual it says the switch on the exhaust housing is the proof of fire switch. The high limit is mounted to the back of the firebox area. Im going to order a new one anyways.

Thanks for the suggestions and concerns guys and gals. I thank God that we were home when this happened. Not sure what could've happened if i had not shut the stove down.
