That damm 4" pipe is a lot more money...

 

If you could whack a couple feet off that vertical run that might be your way to go...

Don't think it is possible. But I am also just eyeballing it, so I could be way off....

 

I was limited on where I could go out and up (deck, windows and roofline) so I went straight up through the ceiling and roof. Me and a friend did the install and it really wasn't bad. Glad I went that route as the stove has great natural draft

 

This would be my first choice. But it is probably outside my skill set and I would have to pay someone.

 

I agree.....borderline. You'd be right at the 15 EVL w/ that set-up. You could go either size pipe, but 4" would be the safest bet.

#2 size for safety(4" versus 3")
#3 to function properly(up & out versus out & up) (straight up been best choice)
#4 ease of cleaning(straight out or out & up)
#5 cost(straight out)(the cost adds as you decide which way to go)
My vote is following the order of importance!

 

Think ahead. If you get limited in mobility, you will want to to have the best access to cleaning or be forced to pay to have it done at the proper time. Don't set yourself up for something you can't take care of.

 

True,savemoney.And living in mts,where you may be using stove every month of the year,cleaning convience is important.

 

Thanks for the replies everyone, Lots of great ideas and some things to think about. I am leaning towards the out and up for its simplicity, cleaning and cost. But I still may go up than out. Will see what the wife says for looks when i get closer.

 

I need some rope lights

I have been going back and forth in my headfor the exact reason of a pellet stove down the line. My West Point has like a 10" vent. A lower vent my eyes have not seen so the only option at replacement is another hole in the wall .

 

Setting a roof flashing really isn't too difficult, just make sure you measure measure measure and get the hole in the right spot, then you can drill a pilot hole and trace the inside of the flashing on the roof to cut your hole. I bet money you could find a good tutorial on youtube.

That said I and afaik, most manufacturers vote vertical install as the best option but I know that's not always possible. I did mine vertical but that's because there was a woodstove there and I had a gaping hole to deal with. Otherwise it would have gone in the opposite corner, through the wall, up 5 feet, out 12 inches and then a termination cap. As long as you stick with code they are all good options really.

 

If all the vent goes out its looks better in the inside, #1 gets my vote for clean install.
