    I agree, thats a great pic. Nothing like having the machines to save the wear and tear on your back.

    Guessing that there was about 2/3 a chord. More to come as this was the upper portions that I could get a chain to. The others will have to come out a gas line right of way in the dryer months.

    You gotta love that oak. A lot of folks don't consider it on top of their favorite list, but I don't think it can be beat when properly seasoned. I am lucky to be far enough ahead and to have the room to do it the right way, so it is a favorite of mine.

    We have a lot of oak, cherry, and locust in my area. Also, I am thinning quite a few big ugly walnuts. I like them all a lot but really like the smell of walnut burning!!

    I burn 90% oak and then some cherry, ash, and locust. The key is 2 years split and stacked uncovered. I put it in the burn shed in October to stay dry. The sun and wind are your friend when it comes to aging oak.

    I like burning oak and I love splitting it. Don't like waiting for it.
