A good dehumidifer will pull the moiture out of the wood in a pinch.The first year after I moved thought the wood I had cut that year was good.It was standing dead oak but it was wet would not burn well.I had an idea that if I stacked it loose in basement tented it with a tarp put a dehumidifer next to it would help.It sure did you could hear it cracking.It got me through that first winter and started to learned to start my Hoarding.
This is a neat idea. I place my 6 month old oak on top of my fire stove to help it dry faster, but I might try this instead.
We have a newer style whirlpool about 4 years old that works great took a couple of days maybe 1/2 face cord .I just need more room in the basement.
Alas I don't have a basement. But I keep my wood on a rack in the living room so I might try it there.
be mindful of your electric rate as these are energy hogs. can add up to several dollars per day. still cheaper to burn wood tho!
