There is a lot of truth being spoke in this thread. The whole modified saw and fast chain scenario, with so many variable with motor, chain, operator and wood being used, it all comes down to that day how the results vary. A good operator will out do the faster chain or the strongest motor. If cut times are being looked at then it really takes all three to get the best times. Matching a chain to the saw and the operator is very hard.

That is a very true statement. It depends on the day, tune, the wood, the chain, the amount of pressure from the operator. Great post.

The prettiest pies are not the best ones.

The prettiest chains are not always the fastest.

I know it's true cause I read it on the Internet!

    And all.............:wacky:

sometimes you can file and work on a chain for 10 hours to have a 30 minute file job be faster

I would have probably done some grinding on a saw if I was home. We're going to head home shortlyafter breakfast today. I want to get the 46 tore apart and the machine work done on it and maybe work on the 372 also.

Yep. I got to do that too. I was busy with Jack's 372 the other day and it didn't need a mufflermod so I didn't work on it.

    You building a NOS machine?

    Looks good!

That .019" is the minimum. I don't think anyone would recommend going under that. Is that without base gasket?
