For all those who are getting the IS. when you take the side panels off you can drill 2 holes to match the pattern for stove legs in two 2x4 and bolt them to the stove. Make's it a lot easier to move by hand or jack up. You have to be careful when lifting with the ash pan in the middle, and air control on left side. My stove weight 745 the way it shipped. With two 4 foot 2x4 attached, made lifting a lot easier.

Thanks for the compliments on the hearth! I heard from WS on Friday, gave final paint color approval. Hopefully that means my stove is almost ready!

The new IS is going in tomorrow, providing we can get the present stove out (not sure if enough people are going to show up for that one). A quick photo of an IS stripped about as bare as possible. The stove is fairly easy to move in this condition; just going by the weight of the stone, brick and the parts that were removed (and that is just a guess really), I would say there may be 300 lbs. of parts added to the bare carcars shown here. Congrats on getting it uncrated and sitting pretty. Wait til you get that stove together and light a fire in it. Even the paint curing process is exciting. Keep us informed, pics included.

My stove is at the ABF terminal and pickup is set for Friday.

Now, just in time for the delivery of the stove, the weather is cooperating with forecasted highs in the mid 60's for a week or so. Great stove weather, yey! Reminds me of last year when, after multiple snowstorms that my 8hp blower had trouble clearing, I bought an 11hp beast. It never snowed for the rest of the season.

That is not really such a bad thing- these things give off a bit of smoke and a fair amount of odor on the first and sometimes second firing. If it is pretty warm out, you can open doors and windows fully and get rid of the smell and still not freeze. It is tougher to make that first fire in January when you need the heat inside the house.

Best of luck getting with the stove and installing it!

We'll see! In the meantime, I found a Condar Cat thermometer with a 6.5 inch probe. 5CN-3-14

Got the stove installed last night. With everything removed that can be removed, it was not that heavy and four of us actually carried it into the house without any dollies or other mechanical assistance.

Reassembling the firebrick / stone / grate into the firebox is an experience that everyone should enjoy. Like some diabolical kid's game that cannot be solved, it keeps the user entertained for hours :) Really, it took about 2 hours to reassemble the internals (Easy Boys!) but it is tricky.

My hearth ends with the edge of the hall and is offset into the room from the chimney. So the stove ended up to the left a bit too far. I did not think of it but a friend helping me install and assemble the stove tried the smokepipe adapter 90 degrees out and lo and behold, it <almost> aligns the smoke pipe with the thimble! The pipe is still just a tad off vertical but in person it does not look bad at all.

Ignore the wires hanging off the stove, those are thermocouples that will be replaced by much more appropriate types now that I have the stove and can get the correct size and type thermocouples.

By the way, I have not heard anyone mention it yet but my stove came through with an Outside Air Kit attached; I ordered it that way but there was not an OAK available. I guess there is now.... Nice design that seems to fit and work very well- I can snap a photo of it if anyone is interested.

Brian, it looks like your stove is wired for sound! I wonder if you play some 70's rock it will give you and extra 3 hours of burn time.

The OAK mounts on the bottom of the stove, on the left hand side (facing the door of the stove- same side as the door latch) and runs front- to- back. It slips into place with a bit of gentle tapping and is held in place by the same bolt that covers the slot in the back of the stove where the draft slides are installed. It is really a nicely executed, well designed device IMO. A few photos:

Just notified my build week is 11-10-14. Lots of good info here. Going to have a major transport from driveway to hearth, complete length of house then uphill and halfway back. Will have to do a major strip-down to bare shell.

Mid August. Charcoal body color. Someone mentioned that may have an effect on build time, I do not see that in the picture galley though. Seems they are churning out all color combos equally.

I will! I plan on taking lots of reassembly photos of the firebricks, not for show, just to help me get it back together!

Yeah, there IS a necessary sequence and a couple of little maneuvers needed to get the back stone in place. The bottom row is no problem but the top row will simply not fit: the key is to tip the bottom row forward perhaps 15 degrees (so of course the side rows need to be missing one block each and the rear stones slid forward just a bit) and the upper stones can be rotated and lifted into place. What helps a lot is to remove the entire sled from the stove so that you can shine a fairly bright light into the stove body from above.

As I said, if you remove everything that can be removed from the stove, four people can actually carry the body reasonably easily. I believe there is actually quite a bit more weight in all the stuff that goes onto the body than the body itself weighs. And everything else can be easily carried by hand, in boxes or by a hand-truck (the easy way to move, say, the stone and firebrick IMO).

Good news and bad. The good news is that I went to ABF Freight to pick up the stove this morning, found the place no problem and got home with no problem. The bad news is that the forklift operator speared the box while loading the stove onto my trailer and had enormous difficulty extricating the forks. I am britting a shick that the stove has been damaged, and am off to start opening the crate. Going to take pictures of everything in there in case of damage.

so far it looks like paint scrapes on the legs. I can't see any structural damage, but the stove is currently disassembled for moving onto the hearth pad and I don't know how things will fit back together. The ash pan is of particular concern as that is where he was stabbing with the forklift tongs.
