I recently married a gal with a ½ acre property, a great little Vermont Castings woodstove and a dwindling supply of CSS poplar stored in a ramshackle wood shed. Time to fix that! I added what I had scrounged in the past few years and what had landed on the property after a major ice storm 1-½ years ago. Together we have about 2 full cords of shoulder and winter wood. But the aberration of a wood shed needed to be torn down and re-built. I am pretty frugal and have a few sources of pallets available, so I planned this:

I am air nailing the pallets together and reinforcing them with 2x3' and 2x4's inside. The top two are the outside walls, the third one down will be the centre wall and the bottom two will be the roof. The floor deck is made of 6 pallets and is 12'x 80". They are all 48"x40" pallets.

For a foundation I used Pylex helical piles. The middle supports are shallow deck blocks cause our septic bed lines run underneath the shed and I didn't want to risk cutting into a line.

Great repurpose. Just me mind full as the pallets age even if well protected. They do break easily if you step in the wrong place.

Be sure to post pics as the build progresses.

Lugging the floor deck into place. Bit of a struggle, I'm 5' 4" and a walloping 154 lbs.

Looking really good. I love watching shed builds. I have another one in the works, but can’t post pictures. And it’s been “ in the works” for several months now. Always a drawn out process for me.

Seems we never build them big enough. Guess we have a wood hoarding problem! :emb:   :woodsign:

Will it be an extension of your existing one?

Looks great :salute: You're really inspiring me to build something similar at my own house moving forward. I like the "modular build" construction style a lot. It's efficient and inexpensive.

Great build, if your around any new build areas scarf some advantech they cut off flooring and apply it to floor works well. Your 154 pounds might not break pallets but my 225 does
