Are any of you seeing a resurgence in pellet stoves?

Me cook,it all went next door, and the corn meal opened up, not a happy camper be I.

 

Resurrecting an old thread, my apologies We use propane only for the cooktop as when we were remodeling and increasing the sq footage of the house wife said had to be gas! We have a 100# cylinder that we own and typically it gets topped off once a year just prior to Thanksgiving. Recently the regulator leaked and the tank is empty. Replaced the regulator and gas company won’t refill until its pressure tested at $100. Is this normal? It’s taken them about a month to come and test it so consequently no use of the cooktop. Thinking of replacing this tank with the larger 120 gallon tank to eliminate yearly refills. Is this way overkill? Thinking ahead to having a propane fired generator so this is my logic. Might just change suppliers too as they are pretty hard to deal with but I understand that I’m a small user to them. I Would purchase my own tank as that wouldn’t limit my choice of suppliers. Thanks!

 

For a propane generator, you need at least a 120 gallon tank to provide enough surface area for the propane to boil off
during coldest nights in the winter to supply propane gas to the generator. Coldest night, worst case. A propane supplier supplying their
120 gal. propane tank will charge a rental fee. I suggest that you own your own ASME 120 gal. tank. It will cost $1,000 to $1,500.
You will also save money of paying a lower price for propose because you will be able to negotiate and purchase from any
propane supplier. Any propane supplier can fill a tank owned by the customer. But check your State's laws for sure.
After you are finished using an ASME propane tank, as a used tank, it still has substantial value to sell to the next individual.

 

Thanks for the great advice! We very rarely lose electricity during winter months with a freak ice storm being the exception. Our power outages are more likely in warmer months due to storms or the last hurricane Helene where it was down for 9 days.
