Kubotas at play. Er, I mean work!

Did some mowing yesterday...

Then on to our son's place...

 

Used the L4802 to help put up an electric fence around our son's garden. Pushed the 8' T post in the sand ground...
Then we found a SYP stump at the end of the garden, must have missed it when we were grinding them. Looked like we were digging a swimming pool...... tap root went deep...
Git'ter done though...

 

These don't look that heavy but this was all the loader wanted.

 

Those are definitely heavy, that will stack tighter than farwood. Front tires look squatted.

I tilled up a small spot to plant a screen for our blind this morning.

 

Did some mowing this morning.



Had to cut things short though....tractor kept losing power like it was running out of fuel. I suspect I have something clogged up. The lift pump is running but the fuel/water separator isn't staying full on heavy engine load. It would run fine for 30 minutes then act up. I'm guessing something in the tank is blocking the flow as things slosh around...but that's just a guess....I'm not even close to being a diesel mechanic.

yes I washed Kubota since last time but it lives in a barn!

no finished pics because I missed a week old baby fawn.. so left a 40x60 section he ran on new wonky legs to hide in

Was driving a rural road other afternoon. Freshly cut hay in the fields. I see a doe out in the open looking in one direction. Then I notice the buzzards circling above. It's dawned on me past few years that fields along roads are a favorite spot for doe to hide their babies. I figure that the predators are less likely to venture near a road during the day. I notice same type of behavior during rut...the does hang out by roadways looking for a break from the chase.

 

He was in the bushes house side of swamp; easy 700’ from road. I normally wait until July to mow first time because of babies but with drought last year and a few days of rain coming I did it early

no harm , I hope he goes back left plenty of cover for cute lil duffer

 

We have one tiny baby deer walking around here with his Mama...I swear it looks to be the size of a large cat, smallest we have seen

 

At first I thought it was a cat or huge rabbit; I stopped tried to get pic couldn’t, called wife in house.. we decided that he was scared enough with out mama, so I backed up and left that section alone

 

We also try to let them have their space here.

 

Went and picked up the tractor and brought it home last night. Did some troubleshooting this morning.

My tractor has an electric lift pump since the fuel tanks are mounted below the operator station. I pulled the fuel line from the output side of the pump and barely got a trickle.

After some research on the interwebs I found that the banjo fitting on the inlet side of the fuel/water separator has a tendancy to collect debris and restrict flow. Sure enough, I pulled it off, blew it out, and found a bunch of sawdust. Surely that wasn't my fault. It couldn't be.



Not sure if they are all like this, but if you are mowing this spring/summer and it feels down on power....might be worth checking out.

 

Did cleaning that out fix the problem?

 

The lift pump went from delivering 4 oz of fuel in 30 seconds to more than 8 oz in less than 10 seconds. I haven't mowed with it yet, but I'll be shocked if that wasn't it.
