Maybe the door is better visible here...we use short self tapping screws to hold to door plastic on... Grandson helping load another chunk tote...
You guys with equipment to move the totes around are lucky. With no equipment I'm relegated to stacking it in my main storage then when I need more at the house I fill up the gorilla cart and pull that up to the house with the ATV. 3-4 trips with the cart and my house storage is full. That last me about 2 weeks, give or take depending on temps.
Correct. 55 gallon steel barrels. I cut them in half, just use the top half and put an X brace in the back to give it some strength. The top of the barrel has the round lip that gives it plenty strength on the "front" edge. Then I cut some 2x8 for feet or stanchions for them to sit in. Just follow the curve of the barrel so they sit in there nice. Very stable...and bonus the wife likes the way they look...rustic decorative and all. I also rusted them with some vinegar and salt. Then sprayed them with poly to seal in the rust and prevent any further. They sit under a large porch eve so they should stay pretty good.

I'm actually driving tomorrow morning to get 2 IBC totes. 1-1/2 hours away. $50.00 a piece. They are soooooooo damm hard to find around here.
A new solution just fell into my lap. When I bought my house, there was this nice older lady across the street. barely ever saw her. Time did what it does, and about 5–6 years ago a middle-aged lady moved in with her late-teen/early-20s son. Kid was always wrenching on a late 90s Civic. Which… fine. Except Civics basically run forever, so it was all mods and one of those stupid fart-can exhausts. I can’t talk too much trash, I did dumb stuff like that with an old Yamaha motorcycle once. Difference is he had a crew of friends always around, being loud and annoying in that exact way young dudes are. Meanwhile the mom gutted the house and put in one of those tall cylinder Scandinavian stoves. Eventually they moved out and this younger couple moved in. Looked mid-20s. I didn’t run over like “Hi I’m your friendly neighborhood guy” or anything. I’d wave, yell hello sometimes. They seemed nice. They’ve got a long-haired retriever and California plates, and the guy leaves super early, so for a while I thought he was a firefighter or something. Turns out he does construction. Then the cold weather finally rolled in. One day I said to him, “Good thing you’ve got that wood stove, huh?” And he goes, “Yeah… we’re blowing through wood. I’m gonna have to buy some.” And in this area at least, if you pay for a cord of seasoned wood delivered; it will be delivered, but it won't be the other two. Young couple, moved across the country, don’t have family or friends nearby, just trying to figure it out? I told him I’ve got him covered and asked what size splits he needed. He said 12 inches max. Perfect. Right in my wheelhouse. I guess I'm making myself look like some hero here. I just have more than enough, and it costs me nothing to take care of the folks across the street. Feels like how neighbors are supposed to treat each other.
