An easy +13°F ambient outdoors . 68° in the far end of the house . 4 rooms away from the woodstove. Pretty much dark outside now .
White Spruce in the woodstove . I'm playing around with saw split (noodled) squares. Just small enough to fit through the woodstove door. See how well they last .
Pretty warm this week . All last week it was -17 to -22 F ambient. So this is almost T shirt weather .
Absolutely Loving the 10" thick dense packed , insulated walls.

12 right now but that's expected to drop a bit more before the day begins in earnest.

    No snow.

    22. It spit snow all day yesterday but temp around 35 so none stuck around to make things slippery except in a very few areas. I'm told it got slick between Saginaw and Mt Pleasant late in the day.

We have had 17% more heating degree days so far season to date over last season. I have used significantly less wood. As best I can tell from my records maybe 30% less. Mostly elm from the same 2022 score, and lumber cutoffs like last year. The only thing I can think of is I eliminated a bad draft that caused one whole corner of the house to be cold. I knew it would help with consumption, but didn't expect this much.

Sitting at -2C/29F this morning, with a few inches of snow fall for insulation. Should make it above freezing today. Pine chonkies for breakfast.

Cool and damp here. 45 and a heavy mist coming down.

I forgot to load the boiler yesterday but it still had a good coal bed in there this morning. Loaded it back up with a mix of ash, walnut, and cherry. I need to move another pallet of wood up but we got too much rain yesterday and the tractor would destroy the yard in the process. I guess I'll just have to burn the stuff by the boiler until the ground firms up.

41/72 didn't reload this morning as the wife was sweeping and putting the tree up in the stove room. Just started back up around 5:30, maple and ash.

Newer phones have really great cameras. The main issue in FHC is the megapixel limit. Anything over 8 mp and it will more than likely need to be reduced quality. I usually have to take screenshots of my pictures on my pixel 8 pro.

24 F here this morning. 64 in the house at 6am. Not much for coals left this morning so burning some pallets and a few small splits of oak and maple. We're sitting right at 71 in the house and letting the coals do their thing for a bit then loading up a full load for the slow burn. High of 44 today and cloudy. Lot's of chores to do today!

It has to be your sealing up the draft, I am not far from you and I have used significantly more wood so far then recent years.
