I couldn't find a "new member" topic, so I thought I'd post where I was most active a few years ago. By way of introduction, I can best point you to my first thread from about 2017: Threefathers tribute table I apologize for the dead photo links. I lost my sloweather.com server and reasons to keep it going in the move. In 2020, my ex and I decided to divorce. After some thought and searching about, I decided to relocate from California back to my home town of Moline IL. I've been here with my little divorce dog Reggie over 5 years already. We have a nice house, and a couple of acres with some live trees, some down trees, and still dealing with the last of the dead ash trees. I've cut and split a lot of ash, and milled some. There are new projects to share... It's good to be back to a forum that will help keep me off of FB. Chris
I live north of the airport across the Rock River from MLI adjacent to I 74. I can hear and see planes taking off and landing.
Chris, any surviving pics of that table from the thread you linked? About 2010ish, family and I spent a night in San Luis Obispo. Great memories, beautiful scenery and the food(wow). I vividly recall eating fresh strawberries from a roadside stand. Unlike east coast ones. Amazing. Looking forward to seeing your new project pics. I milled up a decent size ash from my yard a couple years ago. Can of whoop ash and a mill =
Not only pics, but the table survives as well. I brought it with in the move from CA 5 years ago. Life lately has been filled with coincidences and serendipities. I cleaned up an alcove next to the front porch a few days ago, where the table has resided. It needs to be cleaned up and touched up, and then brought inside. The next day, I was googling for sawbuck plans which led me here. And, looking at my old posts here reminded me that I had dubbed the table my Threefathers Table... I had totally forgotten that. I'll round up pix in a bit.
I saw the bookmatch and decided to try making a table out of it. All of the wood is from the same tree: top, including the joining spline, the legs, and the tenon wedges. No metal fasteners, just joinery and glue. I made the led tenons with a hole saw...
