Can you negotiate with the manager or owner? They must know that you only bring long logs.

What if you volunteered to take those logs away for them?
Doesn't the scale master have any say so in sending guys packing when they bring obviously way too short stuff in?!

I was gonna offer to haul it off, but it was gone.
The scale lady started inspecting the dump loads after that was brought in. I think it was on a dump truck where she couldn't see it.
The regular loggers are crafty with hiding short logs in the middle of there loads.
Zoom in on the right side of the picture, that was a log truck they unloaded, see the bigger short logs on top... 20250317_100618.jpg

High mount camera would fix that.

It would help, but it's easy to hide stuff if you want too. Just be honest would be the ticket.

That’s a lot of weight for that trailer. Looks like a 10,000lbs rated trailer with two 5200 lbs axles. I’m guessing that having the logs stick out of the back helps in the dumping process to counterbalance the weight in the front. What kind of hitch are using between the truck and the trailer?

It might be a bit overloaded...:whistle:...
We had an 2" Anderson weight distribution hitch on it. Got a 2 1/2" receiver hitch on it now.

A tiny bit of good news...
Found 2 local young men that have a sawmill and builds pallets for the local sand plant. They wanted logs. They came today and got a load.
Gave us $50, all we did was load them. So it's a little something, about 1/2 what the chip mill was doing. But this helps them and we don't haul. They want all the trees we can give them, 8-10" and bigger. Even said if we have a pile and our schedules don't match, they would load with their skidsteer.
I knew GOD had a plan, we just need to be patient.

Time is money so if you don't have to take time going to the mill, your per hour rate may have increased depending on how long a trip takes. Having them load would be even better.
