    Fell through (into?!) someone's crack?
I'd inquire about it again, as a reminder if nothing else.

I wonder if you could moisturize the soapstone you're taking off and use for something else?

Not sure what you mean by moisturizing? I’ll probably make some boot warmers, trivets and anything else I can think of.

Wipe some mineral oil on it for the flaking and prevent further flaking? I don't have soapstone, just a thought. Your ideas sound cool!

Looks good. I’m bookmarking this thread for when I need to rebuild my stove in 20 or so years.

Received most of my parts today and they really package them well, no broken stones. I’m missing a few stones though. The outside corners and some inside corners. I don’t know what happened there but I’m sure they will fix it. Also no instructions so I’m kind a dead on the water until I hear back From them.

Finally have all the parts! It’s a pain trying to keep the corners from falling in as I rebuild this thing, had to get creative. Have all the stones together just need to cement them together the install the guts.

Cemented everything today. Lots of seams to fill then I installed the four corner tie rods and legs. Had a problem seating the top frame in one corner and then I heard a scary pop and she went into place.

I’ll let the cement dry tonight then start on the guts tomorrow. Install maybe next week.

Installed the guts today, went together pretty well. Only had a couple issues with a couple spacers that help line up the combustor pan and the bypass was a pain to reinstall and adjust it properly.

I have to let it sit for a couple days to cure the cement then I’ll install maybe Wednesday.

I think I’ll do three small break in fires without the cat in there. Not sure all the paint fumes passing through is such a good thing?

Installed and ready to go! Woodstock says to wait 48 hours before break in to cure the cement. I cemented all the stone and firebox last Saturday but did the flue collar and combustor pan gasket IMG_1954.jpeg yesterday. Maybe a small kindling fire tonight? What you think Backwoods Savage ?

Looking at the location of that CAT I can see why the top of the fireview gets HOT

My Absolute steel had a hood scoop on top of the CAT that throws the heat at a soapstone piece in the front. I overall like it because it pushes heat forward but I cannot really cook with it when the power goes out.

That looks great Todd. I would think a small kindling fire would do no harm.

Small kindling fire last night. Top stone up to 200. Just did another break in fire a little larger and hit 300. I’ll let her cool down and shoot for a 400 degree fire with the cat engaged. It will be interesting to see how this 23 year old cat works. I do have a new steel cat on back order from WS but don’t know when that will show up? Seems Woodstock has been having issues keeping these cats in stock the last couple years, they need to fix that.

She’s fully broke in and just loaded her up for an overnight burn. No issues except the cracked top frame. WS say it should be fine and to just smear some cement on it, sand and paint. A new frame runs $120 plus shipping so I’ll just see how this goes the rest of the season. IMG_1962.jpeg IMG_1964.jpeg IMG_1965.jpeg IMG_1972.jpeg

Packed full of oak last night and not many coals left this morning after 10 hours. I kept turning the air down until I was just a smidge above 0. Stove temp 650 internal flue temp 600. I think the flue temp may be a little high but I also had a strong draft with single digits outside. -17 this morning too. Ended up tightening the bypass a bit because it seemed loose. Still learning the stove but I remember being able to snuff out the flames on my previous Fireview but that was a different house different chimney.
