Old one fell apart so I built a new one with a few 2/4's. Made it 16" between centers so it is easy to lay out the wood for a 16" cut. Total width is 33 1/2". Ran a piece of threaded rod through it so I can collapse it to take less space. The 2/4's on the outside also serve as stops to keep it from spreading.
Very nice! I made one just like that out of used 2x4's about 8 years ago, inspired (read: copied) from the "Shawn Curry/FHC" design, it has held many thousands of lbs of firewood by now, and is probably due for replacement sometime soon. (spent most of its time outside)
