I got some duke's 066 pistons cut down for my 288s They feel much lighter in hand the skirts are noticabley thinner than the 288 piston I just need to clean up the piston windows
Prepping for tomorrow’s black locust. Flipped the bar, cleaned the groove, greased the tip, fresh chain, cleaned the air filter and greased the clutch drum bearing. She’s ready to rip.
I picked up this 372XP a couple weeks ago for $450. It came with four 24” bars and chains. The muffler was dented and it ran a little off, but it seemed like it was worth a gamble. After getting the muffler off, the piston looked fantastic and still had the machining marks on most of it. I put an aftermarket replacement muffler on it from Bailey’s. I’m just now getting into it further, cleaning it up (pine sap residue and fine dust everywhere) Going to clean up the carburetor and replace the spark plug. I’ve never seen a plug so bad!!! I wonder if he was running cheap super tech 2 cycle oil? No doubt the plug has a lot to do with it not running perfect. Either way, I’m excited to finally have a 70+ cc saw and am looking forward to putting it to work this fall when hoarding starts up again.
Throw an unlimited coil on it and you’ll be good to go, id say that is a pretty decent score for the price.
I have this minty 2165 I finally found a oem 372 cylinder for it And had randy port it This chassis is my favorite of the 3 series I'm left handed and the straight across bar is more comfortable to me.
Serious question, is it really that hard for a left handed person to run the saw right handed like it’s designed? That slope of the top handle is designed to keep the bar from hitting you dead center if you have a kickback event and loose grip on rear handle. They say the only safe way to run the saw is right handed no matter how you do everything else. But I see lots of lefties doing it the other.
I have two saws going into the basement shop for emergency surgery this week, one of my 044 slant fins needs the oiler worm drive replaced and and one of my MS440's that needs major muffler repair (the entire muffler broke off around the cylinder mounting bolts) never seen that before. I'll take some pics when I pull it apart. I normally don't work on saws this time of year but these are two of my workhorses so I need them fixed......
Fixed this redmax/Husqvarna 353 The sawdust built up and kept the diaphragm from working I bought this to clean saws it does a good job He has 4 more of these for me to fix he bought them new about 20 year's ago.
I was on the Facebook neotec page and they were offering customer returned saws no warranty for 137.00 shipped I ordered a nh395 clone but they sent me this nh365 by mistake I didn't want it but it was so much hassle to return it they offered me a return 895 for 122.00 shipped so i ordered one The chain brake was engaged and you couldn't put it on the saw That was the only issue It has never been ran I reset the brake fueled and oiled it and put a new 28" bar and chain on it Started right up and oils good I'll try it tomorrow.
I had dj /beaglebriar/ cut down 066 pistons for my holzfforma 288s I had to mark and trim the piston pin bosses to allow the 288 rod to fit Running a 066 wrist pin and bearing I shaped it with a Dremel then put the disc on the mandrel while in the piston and trued up each side. Very high compression you really have to want it to start it It feels locked up nobody will borrow this saw DJ ported this non decomp 288 cylinder It's a strong runner i heat cycled it today.
