This is the one we have, and y'all know I don't abuse equipment...... 3/8" steel tines. Cylinder started leaking, they replaced it free. BLACK Compact Tractor 48" / 54" / 60" HD Root Grapple Hydraulic - quick attach — MTL Attachments
Besides his language, he doesn't have the proper grapple for a skid steer. That is a compact tractor built grapple. Maybe if he had gotten this one, he wouldn't be complaining... MTL X Series TALON Root Rake Grapple Attachment - multiple sizes available — MTL Attachments
That’s two measured and stacked cords in the back. 4X4X8. even if I were to scoot everything together and put a fourth tote in there, I’m adding 8’ to the foot print for 2 cord put into IBC totes. That extra 8’ would let me stack a 3rd cord. another strike against totes.
Thoughts? Suggestion? opened up the cylinder tonight to find.. while the working ports are 1/2” NPT. the holes in the actual cylinder are only 5/16” at best.
Yup, looks like the exact same setup I have on mine...actually looks like about same cylinder, only painted silver instead of red...I used a drill bit to check port size...a 3/8" fit in easily...next size up (don't recall the size) not quite. You could have a hydraulic shop upsize the holes and the hose connection to accommodate larger lines and pump...but when I called about that the other day they quoted me a price $1-200 more than just buying a new cylinder (even after shipping) with 3/4" fittings and a 2.25" rod (for faster returns) https://ruggedmade.com/welded-log-s...d-od-1-5-rod-end-5-rod-bolt-clevis-mount.html You can still get some gains without enlarging the holes using a larger pump and lines, but it will still not be as fast as it could be, and it'll make the oil hotter, and faster too. They hot rodded one here, went from a 13 to 28 gallon pump, speeded 'er right up, but I bet she'd sure get hot on a warm day! What works to prove a point on 1 video is not the same as what works long term in the real world
I’m leaning towards tearing it down and boring out the ports. they want $400+ to change the bungs. for that price, toss this cylinder to the side and get the rugged made 4”/ 2.25” rod and that would likely still need to have the holes enlarged. they came back and told me a 5” cyl/ 4” rod X 18” long with 3/4” rod port and dual 1” cap ports would cost me $1900. wonder if I could just buy a 35SHO cylinder and what it would cost.
Bucking wood the easy way and running a 500i for the first time ever. I’d love to see a 50cc fuel injected saw. This should have been between the name brand vs off brand video and the first wicked wedge video.
Rugged made sent me a picture of their working port on a 4X24/ 2.25” rod. pretty sure if the rod ends match, I’ll just be replacing my cylinder and putting the Prince auto valve on it too.
Yeah that looks like it works pretty well...still makes plenty of kinlin though...I suppose there's no getting away from that when you move beyond a single stroke/single split machine
Very True. While working with jo191145's multi wedge splitter on Sunday i noticed the volume of sheds, shards, and kindling bits it produced, but man with the the right type of logs it spits out splits fast.
FB MP find. he even delivered it to me… Rugged made splitter work table. now to mod it for my Country Pro.
