I’m sure these will crack but hopefully can salvage some larger pieces

 

With grain that twisty i end up noodling them into "splits" unless you like twisty splits.
Pretty grain though.

 

If you paint the ends they *might* not crack.

 

Picking up anchorseal tomorrow. Unless you think that’s overpriced BS and latex paint works just fine?

Either one works , I have had good results with just latex paint.
Still no guarantee they wont crack regardless of what you use but it does improve the odds.

 

If you’re serious about minimizing splits/cracks, go with the good stuff. I’ve used a ton of latex and it helps but I read and I’m told AnchorSeal is the gold standard.

 

Just spitballing here but I think I’d put each in a contractor trash bag and open for a bit on a rotating schedule. Ain’t never tried it tho.
