Township wants to raise property taxes but does nothing to protect the value. Punish those trying to improve their homes and property. Its enough to make one spit nails.
Weekend we had back in late October ‘22. I was able to unload Saturday around noon. So instead of going to a hot, no shade parking lot. We sat about 300 yards from the north end of the Pensacola airport runway.
I about doubled the pile test. Saved out some 24” 4’ logs to make Timbers with. Started laying out some splayed for that first cut on the chainsaw mill. even started playing with YouTube for yet another firewood channel. It’s a work in progress. The phone shutoff in 8 minutes. Seems I need to replace the battery. And the drone only lasted 9 minutes in the January cold of 25*F. called the local hydraulic shop. Asked them about the dump valve on dude ranch DIY splitter. Ended up ordering a prince auto-cycle valve before even ordering the splitter. taking a road trip today to go look at the wood project with the drone and see my oldest for a bit before heading out on Monday. Sounds like I’m pre-loaded already for the entire trip for 18 days and I haven’t even started packing the truck. Monday I load for Victoria TX and then make my way to Chicagoland…. Guess I get a little bit of thawing out anyway.
There’s about 3’ on the ground and the drifts are double that. By our place they came in with a 5 yard pay loader and pushed the snow back from the road because it was drifting about 4’ deep across the road. never took pictures but where I want to stack and store split wood is an 8’ deep drift. Kinda wishing I had now.
Minnesota correct? I was out there in January a few years back for work. Froze my azz off. And I was working inside. Just walking from the building to the truck gave you a shrinky - dink”
Correct. The fact I’ve got 6-7 cord in my back yard I’m plugging away at gives pause to how nuts we are up here. I waited until we got a 2” snow fall to cover the ice for traction from that spit of rain/ drizzle/ winter mix we had.
Left Monday and got home about 1 pm today. 3000 miles. I was supposed to be gone until around 2/9. But when a round takes me right back to the house for the weekend, I’ll take it. Last weekend I put a 100W solar panel on the dump trailer to see how it would do for charging the battery. Even at -6*F, the box went up faster than last weekend at 30*F. Panel and charger are from harbor freight. This panel actually took the week to see how it would work. Got the 100W solar panel from HF for the camper last fall. Haven’t set it up yet, so I’ll have to get a replacement panel for that panel now. Likely get a couple more too so I can hook up to the semi and charge with 10 amps too. this will likely turn into a 4-panel array though for the camper. Just hanging it with a couple small hooks. Take it off when actually using it.
Ain’t that the luck? I bought a cheap helmet cam for my snowmobile. It couldn’t handle the speed, bumps or rapidly changing scenery. Movie looked like crap even after I washed it through correction software numerous times. So I spent a little more on a go pro. Battery died in the cold so fast it wasn’t worth it. Just can’t win sometimes.
This is what the panel is putting out for amperage after running the box up and then down. It stopped charging entirely in about 2 minutes. so it would have been interesting to see the day after I hooked it up what the charge rate was.
Huh, we need to build a solar system for the property/ camper. REC is making it really easy to want to go solar by saying it’ll be $6000 by the time we hook up the house.
Bought a quad axle of cherry/hickory today. Be delivered on Monday. another 6-7 cord load. This should be all I need for a wood stand for the summer. now to find 60 pallets for 10-11 cord of split wood.
If you come to SE Wisconsin, I'll hook you up. We've got plastic pallets and probably some IBC totes.
