The Chain guard says, "Sears" on it so I'm assuming they were sold in Sears. I have heard of them, never owned or saw one in person until now.

I haven't tried yet, I blew out the air cleaner with my compressor, the tank was bone dry but smelled REAL bad, I pulled the plug and looked with my bore light to see if it had "any" oil residue in there, I sprayed some PB and a bit of marvel mystery oil in the cylinder, then pulled it through. It has real good compression. Plug could use a change so I'll get that and I did mix a small about of gas/oil about 32:1 just in case. The cap on it say's 16:1. I'll try later this evening, I put fresh gas in it with some Marvel Mystery oil in it. I'm gonna go slow and I might get lucky. This was a $50.00 find, Fella at my gun club.
I just changed the plug with a new one. gonna try soon! Had to come in and feed the pups, get a Beer etc... You know the drill!
Yes, iT'S ALIVE!!!! It ran real well also. Took some time to get fuel through the carb and about 10 pulls, but once it did, She ran very well!!! I got a heavy mix in her, and it's still running great. It even idled for about 45 seconds fine. when she quit, it fired right back up on first pull! I think having the new plug was the key, It's a Stihl MS 250 plug but closely comparable I'm sure. I keep a few plugs on hand, They matched up perfectly. I'll get a factory Champion CJ6 which is what I took out. Seems to run real strong. I'm gonna let it sit for an hour and see if she'll fire up again.
Cool! I have the same saw (basically) mine is aP28, which appears to be just the next gen P20. Model Profile: P20 Model Profile: P28 My coworker gave me this one...it was his dads and he planned on getting it running again (has just been sitting forever) but now he is paring down his herd and decided to just give me the saw...haven't tried to fire it yet...has lots of compression though! Gas tank smells horrible...I assumed it would need a carb clean...guess I should gas 'er up and try it!
I sprayed some PB blaster in the plug port/cylinder because I assumed this had been dry a Loooooooooong time then pulled it through. It is the exact same 51.4 CC! It's a little animal with a short bar on it. I only have a 14" bar.
Nice story on the Pioneer there. My father has a Pioneer (don't know which model) that was his firewood cutter when I was a pre-teen and teenager. Note, that was the 1970s. He still used that saw well into the 2010s, although I don't think it's seen much work the last couple years.
Thanks, it's a (strong) runner! I really don't think this was used much at all. The original bar on it is in nice shape, clutch still has factory paint on it that hasn't worn off, It just has "garage rash" from moving around. This model is from 1973 to 1976, so it's in there somewhere.
Pioneers were really common saws in Minnesota in the 70s and into the 80s. I still see them in garages and shops regularly. Then Jonsered gained a following in the 80s and 90s, followed by Husqvarna. It wasn't until about 20 years ago that I saw many Stihls or Stihl dealers around here. I've still never seen what I'd call an old Stihl in the flesh. The old saws are mostly either red or green.
