A buddy of mine had a BL branch fall. He didn't realize just what it was, until he went to cut it.

It's not much, but I'll take it.

There's at least 2 d dead BL, still standing. Maybe 10in DBH. They are in tight quarters, among other trees. There'll need to be some serious looking before attempting to drop them.

    TBD

They are actually just over my friend's property line.

In taking them down from the ground, they will get hung up. So, it would be like felling them 2-3 times.

There's nothing that would get damaged, should they fall.

We'll see what the neighbor thinks. She lives alone and my friend does alot for her. Time will tell.

    Brewster.

The stuff is growing everywhere around here.

Vehicle space will dictate how much comes home with me. Some that's cut, has evidence of any activity. Probably past activity.

Same place as - So that's what they look like....

Make room, make room...its BL! I have faith in you Mike! Poor sandy soil, lots of sunlight so ideal growing conditions for BL there.

These pieces must have moved themselves.
    IMG_20220409_091540.jpg

The pieces around the tree have been there for a few months. They're sitting on dirt. I moved them around a bit hoping rain, then sun will clean them off a bit.

I hate dirty firewood, but with BL its almost the norm for me...even when i peel the old bark and the cambium layer has decayed. Messy stuff, but ill contend with it.

I finally met the guy that owns the corner lot up the road from work. I asked him about cutting some small trees from there, he said we could. I'll take a couple :ithappened: in the morning on the way home, see if Professor buZZsaw BRAD can confirm or deny the ID of said trees...
See if they pass his sniff test...

If the bark is starting to come loose and its banana peel slimy underneath i HIGHLY RECOMMEND not giving the sniff test. The worst wood smell ever. Green fresh cut not too bad.
