Got a new attachment to help the woods. 2600#'s of mulching action. I'm really going to be waiting for the snow to go away this winter anxious to see how it works.
I’ve seen one in action mounted on a trackhoe Did a real nice job grinding small trees and underbrush
I've got sections of my woods that are not regrowing properly. Way too thick and just stifled, too many little saplings competing for nutrients and sunshine. Then there's the stump growth (suckers) that never turns into a saw log even if they don't break off first. I'm hopefully getting into the NRCS-USDA program that will help along with timberstand improvements - invasives, food plots, water crossings, etc. This tool should be part of the answer.
if your really Jones’n, I’ve got no snow and about a mile of laurel to go to finish our trails! That would do it!
I just wish you were my neighbor so I could borrow it for a day or two. You know, safety check it for you. I’d be doing you a favor! Mike in Okla
Very nice! I NEED one of these, I paid $10K to the mulching contractor after our harvest and they barely touched the 43 acres.
A little side work IS a thought in the back of my mind. That unit is over $20k and a little side work might justify a new $90k SS with some additional (hydraulic) cooling that I really should have. Then there's a newer truck to haul it around with, might as well get a proper trailer too. Hey Dave, what's your mulching guys number .
The 10k was for 5 days and included $500 transport fee. He contracted out the transport. I am not complaining about the amount of work for the money, two machines and two operators, they did a ton of work. It took a bit to get them here, they are base is so Maine, he lined up a bunch of jobs in the area. The owner was one of the operators he said he had as much work as he could handle, mulching jobs in the summer, harvest jobs in the winter. Timber harvest advice
Don't forget the skid steer to run it. I don't think any compact tractor can run this type of mulcher. I need to borrow my buddy's boss's big tracked skid steer like in the video for this mulcher. He's got some sort of forestry mulcher for it too. I've got trails needing to be reopened at my hunting land. This should happen in Spring, just have to coordinate the machine getting from his boss's land up north, to mine on the way down south before my buddy uses it at his place. fuelrod with all the acres you have, you should put this to great use. Why wait, send it now, which means less to do later.
