I picked up the XA22 last year in the middle of summer. It has been quite the handy little tool as most pickaroon, hookaroon, wood hook or whatever you want to call them, are. At the time of purchase, it seemed a little expensive for what it was($50ish). After a year of use, it definitely paid off. There have been multiple instances where there was no way I was going to be able to move logs to finish a cut without it. It also helps with smaller rounds and not having to bend over for each and every round.
However, the other week I was cutting up some ash and I had been using it to drag the rounds closer to the truck. I swung at kind of a bad angle and, snap!

Not sure if it was the bad swing, or a years worth of abuse, but it busted.

I went ahead and bought another one because it was at my local hardware store and I use it every time I go out for a scrounge. I'd consider a pickaroon almost essential if your working with wood that needs to be dragged, moved, or pulled out of a pile. Might consider a different brand if this one doesn't last longer.

I hope you ask for a replacement. Your price dord not sound out of line.

I'm with you in the use of a pickeroon. Mine gets use a lot but perhaps not like others use them as I rarely stick mine into a log but use it mostly for rolling or moving the end of a log. Also sometimes when splitting it gets used to reach some logs and bring them to me.

Personally I like wood handled tools.

Fiskars have a lifetime warranty. I’ve never had a problem with them honoring it.

I have a home made one and love it. Doesnt get used a lot but very handy when i do. Mostly for unloading the truck of splits or rounds.

As stated Fiskars will replace it. Go online to their website and its a simple form. I broke a handle on my X27 ax and they replaced it free of charge. All i had to do was supply photos.

I did not. No questions asked when i did other than photos. I guess there has been abuse of the warranty process since then. Here is my thread from March 2019.

I would certainly give the warranty a try and then I'd take a file and dress that broken end down to a point. Keep on using it!!

What I really like about my Logrite hookaroon is when cutting in snow, my hands stay drier. In the winter, wet hands are cold hands.

Everyone has personal preferences however I was extremely disappointed in the Fiskars hookaroon. I ordered one (none in stock locally) several years ago and when it arrived, I couldn't believe how flimsy it was. I sent it back the next day for a refund. I ended up getting a Stihl hookaroon (similar to the Logrite) and have been very pleased with it. Again, personal preference.

Have had mine for multiple years and never had any issues. Don't go to any scrounge without it.

When my IsoCore broke I just filled out the online form and sent a couple pics and in about 3 weeks a new one arrived in the mail.

I've had one for about 2 years and it is very light in weight but has worked well for me. I can see where some folks would be dissatisfied because of the weight of the tool. Second, in my opinion behind the hookaroon, is the pulp hook. Last year's Secret Santa sent me one and it las saved me a lot of bending and reaching work around the wood processing area and the truck bed. Thanks again Secret Santa!:salute:
