I don’t know if you can still find it, ( maybe on the web or eBay) but the stuff that they used to wrap handle bars on ten speed bikes works pretty well and looks decent. I did it on my old VAC Case that had the same issue. This has been on it for probably better than 10 years
Just got back from a trip to GA. Drained hydraulic oil this evening. There was a titch of water in it. I'm guessing Tractor Data .com was wrong on 24 gallons. 24 quarts (6 gallons) seems to function just fine and matches the quantity drained. My hunch is water found its way into the tank through the filler/vent. There is a machine screw with a metal washer holding the vent cap on. I removed the tin cap, used a ballpeen hammer to "dome" the cap. Then, grabbed a rubber washer from the metal roofing screw. Voila! Hopefully, that takes care of it. There are two hoses that haven't been swapped. I had to replace a different one that a guy put on a few years ago. The two remaining seem supple and are protected from UV for the most part. It's servicable as a loader, the next biggy is the lift arms and making a drawbar mount. That may need to wait a week or two.
Well Casper I have to say you are really coming along with the new tractor. By the time your done it should be very dependable and do any job you ask it to. Some nice work.
Soooo..... on another topic. What's mounted on the back of the old GM square body in the pic? Hockey stick tape works good on the steering wheel too.
It’s got a maintainer service body on it. Small hyd boom hoist, torch, air compressor. The whole rig was ALMOST handy when it was running. Hasn’t run for probably 5-6 years. 1ton dually, reverse manual valve body 400 transmission…and 6 cylinder Isuzu Diesel engine. you want to buy it??
Told him I was keeping the homemade log splitter that it used to run which is still sitting on the bed…. That’s probably the deal breaker but I do have an old homelite I’d gladly throw in just to get them both out of my way
When I met Mrs PMM she had a tractor. Now I get to put fuel in it, maintain it and fix it. Be careful.
