Well, I woke up this morning and didn't get myself a beer. Instead, I looked out a North-facing window, following an early morning thunderstorm. Lo' and behold, a rainbow beckoned. I got into my minivan, and set off to see what lies at the end of the rainbow Let me tell ya', rainbows are further away than you think After a few half-hours, I was rewarded with this eye-candy Cautiously, I looked around. The surrounding hills were shrouded in an ugly, hazy, blue-air. I said " blue-air be dammed", and headed off to the rainbow's end. It looked closer than ever. I drove up the hill as if it was pulling me. Over asphalt, then rock, gravel and mud, until I appeared to be at journey's end. I carefully walked further uphill, where there were several piles, or, dwellings reminding me of hobbit houses. I then spied some ancient form of transportation, and went no further. I relocated the end of the rainbow, and I could not contain my excitement The rainbow eneded right about the roof! I nervously approached. My hand shaking as I opened the door. And there it was! The treasure!!! No pot of gold. But a beat-up husky 350! I chose to not look in the pot. If you are interested, here's the prequel. A gifted husqvarna 350 Much thanks to WeldrDave for regifting the regifting.
Very Cool Mike! If you look at the sticker on it, It was originally from New Hampshire. It just made a kinda round trip over the years. Have fun with it Mike.
Good story Mike! I thought that covered bridge looked familiar. Did you cut a tree down while you were there?
By the way MikeInMa , Thanks for the pics! It really makes me remember how much I miss that land, but thats a good thing, It keeps me/us focused. It will look much different the next time we're up.
I got several,. I also could never forget just how bad it was. When I was up the last time in my new truck, the suspension is so stiff it beat the snot out of me getting up there every time. The guy I hired is cutting a much wider, gradual entrance coming in and about 2ft wider all the way in. I may lose that tree close to the edge close to the porta pot, and if I do so be it.
That tree can be the start of your firewood. I noticed all the good logs were taken off t he pile to the left of the driveway, as expected. They left you all the big pine logs. Good start for a noisy GTG, when the time is right.
