I found a log catcher for the DHT splitter on FB marketplace. Went and picked it up today and put it on the beam. Turns out this shelf is for the 22t, 27t and 35t. I have the 25t.Support arms are a little long and will need holes drilled in the shelf, but not a big deal. These shelves are tough to locate and this was NIB, so I just went and picked it up. Also the shelf will sit a little under the beam, not against the side. I guess the tags are important to read... A little bit under the beam, but I will be happy with it. It beats dropping the half-split round and picking it up again.
Figure out what braces you need to make it exactly right and send me some sketches. I can cut and bend and send them to you.
Thank you for the offer metalcuttr! I just have to drill two holes further out and I'll be in business. Nice offer though!
After 2 1/2 days of rain, I decided to get the shelf installed. Two easy holes and I just have to locate my metric impact set. Also replaced the hydraulic fluid. The filter is NLA and I haven't found the equivalent cross reference yet. The filter that came with the machine is DHT branded with their part # on it. I just want a good brand name from a local store and not from Amazon.
My DHT 35Ton takes a NAPA gold 1551 Hyd filter that is a cross reference to the original DHT. A quick check on the DHT manual seems to indicate the same filter for 25 and 35 ton splitters. The NAPA 1551 is easily cross referenced to many filters (Fram, Baldwin, Fleetguard etc.).
I did see that number on a net search. I think the microns was 15 for those bigger models. Mine is a 10 micron with a 15 gpm pump. There is a Napa not far from work, I'll have to grab one and thank you for checking.
Dry air moved in with a good breeze this afternoon. I spent a little time working the cherry pile. The splitter worked fine with the changed fluids. Everything was just soaked and covered in dirt from the rain splashing. I can't wait to get at the EAB ash out back, but I have to process what is on the ground first. I took Holly out for a good ride to a local farm to get some eggs and check out the horses. No complaints from her.
