I picked up a well traveled 272 and replaced missing and broken parts. When replacing the muffler I looked at the piston up and down and it looked mint. Throttle response and power feels like it should, but cold starts are a bear. Once it fires restarts are fine. Does it need a carb rebuild? I’ve had a few 2 series and they are not the easiest to get fired after sitting a while, but the 272 is beyond normal on # of pulls to fire. I did not replace the plug, should I start with that? The 371 pops off 2nd pull after sitting and feels light years ahead of the 272 in smooth cutting.
I'm no great saw mechanic but I would start with the fuel filter in the tank. Now, I'm not sure if the Husky's have that like the stihls do but that sounds like my first look...
A n A new plug and correct gap can never be a bad thing! It is also a cheap start at troubleshooting.
Agree with above, plug and filters are a given. I'd definitely do a carb rebuild kit. They are relatively cheap and easy to install. Those diaphragms get old and firm. Sonic tank is best if you can.
Give her a tune up with new plug and filters. A carb clean and carb kit might not hurt either. see how that effects it and go from there. if that’s all complete and the issue remains, look for air leaks via pressure test or carb cleaner spray at idle. Pressure test is better info
Yeah, the 3 series Huskies are a lot smoother than the 2 series, so that's normal. My 371 takes a lot of pulls if it hasn't been run for a month or so. I dont fight it, I just pop the top cover, pull the filter and give it a dribble of mix. It fires right up afterwards. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk
If it runs fine once started , I’d check the carb diaphragms for signs of aging . Maybe do a compression check .
My 5 pack of fuel filters showed up today so I replaced the plug and filter. I should have taken a pic of the plug before I dropped it in my full shop can. The post came off with cap and the plug looked like the saw has been running lean. Here’s the filter after I wiped it once with a towel. The good news is the saw fired after 5 pulls with new plug and filter. Thanks again for the troubleshooting help.
