Saw not cutting like it should

    Are the rakers too low? Hard to tell from pictures! Can you get a picture of the chain , tensioned, around the tip of the bar? If you ran it very tight, you may have wore down the bar. Just a guess

    Sorry I haven't been on here in a while. All issues were fixed with the new chain. 20210427_201451.jpg
    You can kinda see my bar in this one. The new chain went right through this spruce log, no problems, nice and straight cuts. I started thinking about just how much I have been using my chainsaw, and its a lot. But I know that I need to be more careful with the maintenance of my bars and chains.

    When I look at the picture of the old chain it looks like the gullet is to deep so the top of the cutter is not getting sharpened. Just my 2 cents.

    That was my thought too. Rakers seemed too low in the cropped picture.

    That’s what I’m seeing too.
    Just to add, sometimes when you really chop up a rock or gravel. The chain is done for good. When that top plate gets heavily damaged may as well just toss it in the trash.
