Was able to get some ash the other day and decided to mill some and use the rest for firewood. I have to say this is sure some good looking wood. I already have plans on what to make with it. How about a few pics.
I got 5 pieces out of this one log at 1 1\2 inches thick. I have one more log to do.

I think I am going to make a live edge firewood box for inside the house. What I use now is one of those plastic tubs that you use for storage.

    Nice boards Mag Craft

What size saws you running on the mills?

Bigger one looks like a Husq, not sure on the smaller one.

The larger of the saws is a Husqvarna 2100CD. The other saw is a Poulan 505 with a Stihl MS660 piston in it. The smallest saw there is a Poulan Predator 54cc. I am running square ground chain on all of them.

The Husky is 99cc the Poulan 505 is 83cc the Poulan Predator is 54cc,

So the wood has been sitting inside my garage now for about a year and 9 months. It warped pretty good while in there. My own fault since I did nothing to prevent it.
But anyways I have been working on the firewood box and just used the wood as it was. I did do some light sanding on it but that was it. I stained it dark since that is what a lot of the furniture I have now is.
A few more coats of verathane and it let it dry then ready for use. This will be a huge improvement over what I am using now. Should be able to hold a full day of wood for me.

The box is very strong and heavy. It should work great. Just a firewood box and nothing fancy about it.

Great job on that box Magcraft. Looks awesome.
What would you have done to prevent the warping while drying? Clamp it down flat on a bench?
    Thanks

Completely missed the original post. Awesome wood box sir! I like it. And it’s cool that you’ll remember where that wood came from when you use/look at it.

Put rockers on it, looks like it would make a great cradle!

Well I did not stack it flat and I put it on end and leaned it up against a wall. The second thing I did not do, I did not paint the ends with anything to slow the drying process down.
