I’ve always had Stihl saws. But I did have a Husky dirt bike for YEARS growing up. I beat the living crap out of that thing. Raced it all over the state. It always ran like a top. Never broke down. Wish now that I hadn’t sold it.
Nixon ’s saw. MS462CR Remove top cover The yellow and red wires come from the coil and go to the ignition switch and solenoid. That’s all there is that runs it. It’s not complex Remove air filter The white plastic at the end of the screwdriver is the solenoid. On some saws you’ll need to pull the carburetor, which involves two nuts in the air filter baffle that hold it on, the throttle lever assembly, fuel line, and impulse line. The solenoid is held on by a couple small torx drive screws. Wiggle it back-and-forth and pull it out, remove the solenoid from the plastic clip, insert the clip on the new solenoid, twist it back in place and put the screws back in
Thanks for showing the US prices. Helps me get an idea of the 500i price when it’s available here should be about 1700-1800 Canadian. Definitely not cheap, but could put aside some play money over the next couple years and end up with that one as my second saw
It plugs into the ignition coil? To control the fuel flow the microprocessor has to be getting input from the Temp. and Baro. Pressor where are these items?
I believe there’s only a temperature sensor inside the coil. Like I said, it’s not all that complicated. The coil adjusts voltage to the solenoid while searching for maximum RPM. That’s about the extent of it
Thank you for the information, i just thought there was more involved in controling the operation of the saw.
No. Like mentioned a couple times, it’s not a complicated system. It has the same number of wires coming from the coil as a carbureted saw does
