Think he needs to go to woodmizer safety class. Just comes in when milling and acts like he owns the place. Not afraid of me either. But never seem to have a rodent problem. So as much as I hate snakes and keep my stick next to me. He can keep eating. Just needs to stop scaring the sh!t out of me.
I measured from the tire to that box it's 84 inches and his head is 6 inches past that... Didn't see him today. I did see a chipmunk come out of the back of wood pile all messed up looking like he got in a fight with something. He headed towards my pine pile.
Had a nice big black living in the stacks last summer. While I’m no Indian tracker I saw a skin yesterday that didn’t look like it had gone through winter. He’s a gettin bigger It’ll be interesting to tear apart those stacks next year and see how many mice nests are there, if any. So, have you taught yours how to file yet?
Probably just guarding the place til you got there. You have a good looking snake there if I do say so!
Unclefish If that snake hangs around much longer, you will have to start posting your pictures in the "Pet" thread!
4th of July showed up early for work today..I was cutting up some white cedar. He is not doing a good job either saw a mouse running for pine log pile. Came from where he came from to visit me.
I dont mind snakes and will catch them and put them somewhere away from people. BUT one time at night I came out my front door and something started to drop down on the top of my head and out of reflex I reached up, grabbed it and tossed it in one motion. BIG black snake trying to get baby birds in nest above door. Saw it the next day and it was really agressive. Going after the dogs and rose up to challenge me. I put it in woods. Came back, acted same way. Lets just say I put it somewhere and it never came back.
I caught one yesterday and let it go in another place. Saw two more last two days, they are moving. Caught a bee-YOU-tiful copperhead from a wood stack in my yard a couple months ago and took him to some woods.
Snakes are not my favorite, and only because I've been bit once but no harm came to me. Scared the S#!T out of me more than anything, But I highly Value the presence of snakes!!! They have a presence and a job to do, I respect that and it's another one of Gods under rated creatures. I once crossed paths with a Copper head once and gave him a wide berth!
Snakes don't seem to have any trouble finding warm spots. My sister had a big tortoise and it could see the sun lit spots from across the yard. When let out/loose it would go right over to them and bask , unless someone had any of its favorite food(s) and it was hungry.
I couldn't bring myself to like this. Snakes bother me. Why? They always sneak up on me. It's the bloody surprise factor. Starting the riding tractor and it was on top of the motor and came shooting out. I damm near chit my pants. As long as I know they are there, I am fine with them.
