Get a text a couple weeks back from a guy that's given me a few PU fulls of wood from trees he's had cut in his yard. Tree service had felled a few more. I offered to cut them up but he declined. He is laid off and wanted to do it himself. I specified 16". He bucked them up and brought to the driveway. Back in and load. Easy scrounge for me. Red maple and dead ash. He has more to cut too.
Nice guy! Is that the "more to cut" in the background of pic 3? Red maple is not my favorite to split. Tell us how it goes.
First pic was his driveway, last two are mine. Thats two partial loads of BL from last week i have to CS yet maybe today.
Mine either. I split some yesterday. It was tough to half, once halved it was rather easy. X27 and Collins did most of it, but did get the Isocore later for halfing purposes. It was straight grained and no twist.
Good deal, bucked AND delivered I feel bad for the guy being laid off, so I can understand him wanting to cut the wood himself. It probably gives him something to do and restores a sense of being productive for him. That can do wonders for a person. Hopefully things turn around for him soon. Nice score for you as well.
Not delivered but close...5 minutes around the corner from me. He is an electrician around retirement age. Couple Winters ago i was cutting wood next door and he asked if i wanted more wood. He was having some trees felled. Here's the original thread. Swamped with red maple!
As much as I like high BTU woods, I always look at red maple as a dependable good wood that will always get the job done.
