I moved a lot of wood by hand in spring to fill new woodshed 12 ft deep and 32 fT long. Added some 4ft led lights and elec outlets. The milk boxes are filled with cedar fence kindling cut into 10 inch strips to fit. This is 4 year old wood and some will be burnt next year. I will burn some cherry from here in front right of shed on skids

I like it a lot and it's strong. Had a branch fall on it an it saved me. Acorns hit it and I cringe in seat from near miss!

Now to wood split that needs to age. This is where I like the pallets. Second pic is 15 skids long, two rows on bottom and one on top of back row.
Last pic is of pallets I like. All oak very tight spacing. The one on ground to right is sacrificial and put under pallets filled with oak

Found a new way to pick up log and hold it for cutting. I had a big 12' long branch fall on top of shed and this is how I lifted it off without climbing up with saw and killing myself. Drove it down the trail like that to dump it! This is a cedar log I've been saving just for pic.

Some people have much success using wood chips to improve their soil.

Wood for this year is in pic below. Wood is from hurricane Sandy 10/12 /2012. All red oak. Under metal roof since then. This roof is made of 8x8' hot tub skids covered with metal. 8 ft deep 26 ft long and around 7ft high. Red plastic are throwaway cart tops from BJs nearby. The covered red cart was from tractor supply. Plastic sides are from junked hot tub ,red metal roof Added to 3/4 square tube welded frame. Holds almost 1/2 cord. Will get towed up to house.

Modified some plant carts being trashed. Loaded now outside back door with pine aged a year. Quick hot fire in morning or evening. Later I'll load with oak and move to load and back to house with tractor forks and roll into place. Stove is on wall opposite sliding glass doors.

Thanks, a lot of work but very rewarding. Think next summer I'll tear down brick and block chimney and put in metal. I'll be 70 next month and cleanouts will be easier from bottom. I want to keep burning for as long as possible

I just want to give a shout out to Backwoods Savage .
If I hadn't found these wood forums and his advice on the 3 year plan I don't know if I'd still be burning. I figure I'm on a six year plan now.
I followed him and others to this forum from the other one. Great people here and lots of knowledge here!

Backwoods Savage Actually a BIG thanks to you man.
I used to come home from teaching in middle school and split3 or 4 oak logs for a night or two.
Put them in my original Vermont castings Defiant and Always have to leave the side door open a crack. Always noticed the water bubbling out the ends but I was so dumb. Never clicked till I read about your three year plan for oak.
Well you can see that thanks to you things have certainly changes here. I also supply my daughter, neighbor and in laws with old dry wood:salute:

Don't forget all those rounds would have been taken to the dump and ground up into mulch.
I've split half of what was delivered and I will keep plugging away at it!
    Its oak Ive got time!
